Research Interests
1.
Synthesis of halocarbonyl complexes of Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir and Ru with
various N- and P-donor ligands and study of their reactions with SO2 .
These compounds are characterized by the chemical and physical
methods available as IR, NMR, and conductivity measurements.
2.
Synthesis and Characterization of transition metal complexes with
thiourea and Schiff-base derivatives and study of their physical
properties by different spectroscopic methods.
3.
Analysis of trace amounts of cations and anions using flow injection
analysis method coupled with atomic absorption spectrometery and
flame photometery.

I was a direct supervisor of fifteen master students and a second supervisor
for two master students. I supervised the work of two master students who
did their work at Aqaba Marina Station.
B.
I was one of the examining committee for more than thirty three master
students and three Ph.D. students at University of Jordan.
Grants and Awards
Research grants no. 54/86, 45/88 , 8/90, 17/91, 17/92, 7/93, 27/94, 10/95 39/96, 38/97
and 24/2002 from Yarmouk University. I was offered a research fellowship for summer
1994 from DAAD-Germany .
Membership of Committees and Boards
Department:. Every year I am a member of one or more of the committees in
the
department.
Faculty : During my work as a vice dean, I was member of almost all committees
in the faculty of science and the chairperson of most of them. In addition I was the
head of many organizing committees for several conferences held in the faculty.
University : Member of the committee for scientific research (1996-1998), head
of the committee for preparing projects to the World Bank for development of
teaching and scientific research (1997 – 1998) and head of the committee that
planed for the master programme of environmental studies in cooperation with
Carlton's University in Canada (1997-1998).

I have reviewed a large number of research articles inside and outside Jordan.

Since 1980 I taught the following courses :

science course 101 and 102 for arts students 1980-1983 , inorganic chemistry
courses (Chem. 221, Chem. 321, Chem. 323, Chem. 421, Chem. 422 and Chem.
492) , Chem. 491 (seminar and literature) , Chem. 499 (research) , graduate
inorganic chemistry courses : Chem. 622 and Chem. 693 (several times) and
Chem. 231, Chem. 232 (analytical Chemistry) , Chem. 331 and Chem. 332
(instrumental analysis).
