developing strong renewable energy policies and measures and accelerate pace of key
projects construction; all that will create a huge market of energy saving and environmental
protection and bring the industry a bright development prospect. it is estimated that the
industry gross product in 2012 will increase up to 2.8 trillion yuan.
Guangdong has gained gradual achievement after it released a series of strong policies and
measures to push energy conservation, emission and consumption reduction, optimize
energy structure, develop cleaner production and circular econom y and improve ecological
environm ent in recent years, with energy consumption per unit of GDP down 4.3% in 2008,
chemical oxygen demand down 5.2% and sulfur dioxide emission down 5.5%. As a major
energy consumption province, Guangdong accounts for 8% of national power consumption
and 10% of national electrical power consumption, but in the meantime, Guangdong is a
small energy production province, with energy self -sufficient rate merel y 10% . so the
development prospect of Guangdong green industry is broad. The organizing committee
