Summary of the broad purpose of the position in relation to the organisation's goals. The Senior Project Officer, Clinical Planning Team is accountable to the Chief Medical Advisor, Clinical Planning Team, Country Health SA for contributing to the provision of strategies, processes and policies to ensure country people’s health needs are addressed and access is increased to health services. The incumbent will be responsible for the role of Executive Officer of the Country Health SA, Drugs & Therapeutics Committee providing support to the Chair of the Committee by research and the preparation of briefing papers for endorsement of the Clinical Governance Committee in line with the SA Health policies. The position is also responsible for the Executive Officer position for the Rural Doctors Liaison Forum as well as providing support to the Overseas Trained Doctors Program by liaising with Operational Executive Directors to actively seek participants and to seek funding available from the Department of Health and Ageing, Canberra. The incumbent is also responsible for providing project support to the Chief Medical Advisor, Country Health SA. 2. Reporting/Working Relationships The incumbent reports to the Chief Medical Advisor, Clinical Planning Team, Country Health SA and will work with a range of senior officers throughout the Country Health SA and SA Health and the operational units/regions. 3. Statement of Key Outcomes and Associated Activities Contribute to forward planning and development of service strategies and priorities by: Providing Project Support and advice on appropriate policy, planning and practices for Country Health SA relating to new initiatives and/or development of Drug & Therapeutic practices and/or service delivery; Preparing discussion/background papers and documents on the provision of Drug & Therapeutics Services in consultation with members of the committee and other health professional; Implementing the decisions made by the CHSA Drug & Therapeutics Committee and endorsed by the Clinical Governance Committee into operational processes. Ensure consistent and appropriate services and programs within the area of the Country Health SA’s responsibility are provided by: Identifying and participating in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures in relation to the D&T committee; Liaising with the rural Drug & Therapeutic Committees, SA Health, SATAG and Commonwealth departments and other state and national agencies ensuring that a consistency of approach with regard to project development and planning occurs across Country Health SA; Act on behalf of the D&T Committee to Influence hospitals and rural and remote health services to improve their accessibility, consultation and effectiveness with/for appropriate drug administration. Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of Country Health SA and SA Health and other government policies that are applicable to, and impact upon, country health services and strategic plans, policies and programs by: Participating in activities relevant to rural and remote health services strategic plans, policies and program development, as they relate to Clinical Planning; Supporting the evaluation for the continuous improvement of best practice models for service delivery to rural and remote health services, with respect to clinical service requirements; Provide Project support for the Chief Medical Advisor in the research and preparation for specific projects for example SARMES, Ministerial Briefings, and Ministerial Speech Notes. Increase Country Health awareness of policies and procedures for the Administration of Drugs including the implementation of the medication chats, management of S100 drugs in service delivery to country communities of SA Ensure the continued dissemination of rural and remote health services strategic objectives and plans to a wide audience (e.g. government agencies, State and Federal, service providers, community workers) through: D:\106737251.DOC 2 Establishment of links to relevant committees and planning bodies within Country Health SA, SA Health and local and regional communities and service provider groups in relation to this project. Advocating and promoting the Country Health SA role and services at relevant forums in relation to Drugs & Therapeutics and Clinical Planning his projects.
