Installation of a Satellite Dish at CrossPointe
Specifications
This specification does not cover nor allow outdoor antennas or other
structures for terrestrial signal reception except as noted.
The only suppliers of acceptable dishes are Dish Network and Direct TV.
Before installation is started approval from the CrossPointe ARC is required. To
receive approval of the installation a rough location of the dish to be installed and
installers affiliation to the satellite dish supplier must be supplied with your
request.
Only a licensed professional installer may be used for the installation. The
outdoor dish antenna used to receive satellite signals as well as the signal and
grounding cable used to connect the outdoor dish antenna to the indoor receiving
unit are required to comply with local installation codes and the appropriate
sections of the National Electrical Code (NEC), especially Articles 250, 810 and
820.
The condo owner must insure the following conditions and restrictions be met
when being attached to the condo unit. Any violation will be corrected at the
owner’s expense:
1. The dish mounted on the roof must be 1’ below the peak of the roof so
that it is not visible from the street directly in front of the unit.
2. The mounting surface must be structurally capable of supporting the dish.
3. Do not mount the dish on a handrail or deck rail.
4. Do not mount the dish on any type of aluminum or vinyl siding.
5. Do not mount the dish on any type of fiber, particle or strand board.
6. Do not mount the dish under an eave, fascia or overhang.
7. Do not mount the dish on a flat section or a metal or shake sections of the
roof.
8. The dish must not impede the view from adjacent units.
9. The dish can not be mounted within 5’ of the start of the adjacent unit.
The condo owner must insure the following conditions and restrictions be met
when being installed via a pole on the grounds of the condo unit. Any violation
will be corrected at the owner’s expense:
1. The dish mounted on the ground must be located so that it is not visible from the
street directly in front of the unit.
2. The location of the hole must be approved by Dig Safe

3. The pole must not be put in common areas.
4. The pole must not impede lawn maintenance such as mowing.
5. Do not install the pole in wet, marshy or natural culverts.
6. The pole must go at least 3 feet below the surface.

7. The maximum pole length above the ground is 4’ to insure stability in windy
conditions.
8. The pole must be grounded in addition to the dish and signal cable.
9. The pole shall be secured in the ground with concrete. Concrete shall be
kept below grade.
10. The dish must not impede the view from adjacent units.
The condo owner must insure the following conditions and restrictions be met
when routing the cable from the dish into the condo unit. Any violation will be
corrected at the owner’s expense:
A ground block is to be within 12” to the condo entry point of the coaxial cable.
The ground block must be approved for outdoor use.
A ground rod driven into the ground is not acceptable
Acceptable building ground points are:
 Grounded interior metal cold water pipe
 Grounded metallic service raceway
 Grounded electrical service equipment enclosure
 Other acceptable grounding points that comply with Sections 250
and 810 of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
5. Cables shall be secured to the building to prevent flapping under windy
conditions.
6. The routed cable must be within the limits of the condo.
7. A 3”- 5” drip loop on the cable must be used to prevent water from running into the
condo.
