Programme Outline
Do you remember Jimmy, the friendly big doll in “What’s the Magic Word?” and “Where’s the
Frog?”? What is Jimmy doing in “One White Sock, One Yellow Sock”? He is helping Miss
Woodhouse to put some clothes on the clothes line. What clothes has Miss Woodhouse got on the
line? Let’s have a look. She has got a hat, a T-shirt, a dress, a scarf, a pair of gloves, a pair of
socks… and another pair of socks! What are their colours? Jimmy would like the children to tell
him the answer while watching the programme. On the clothes line, there are: a red hat, a blue
T-shirt, a pink dress, a green scarf, a pair of black gloves, a pair of white socks and a pair of
yellow socks. When Jimmy and Miss Woodhouse are having tea, some animals suddenly come
into the garden. Oh, no, the clothes line has been snapped down on the ground by a goat, a duck
and a pig. When Miss Woodhouse comes out to stop them it is too late! They are playing and
running after each other. The pig has a green scarf fallen on his neck. The duck has a yellow
sock over its head. The goat has a red hat on his horn. When they see Miss Woodhouse and
Jimmy, they run away! Where are they going? How can Miss Woodhouse and Jimmy get back the
clothes? The duck has got the yellow sock, where is the white sock? Let’s find out.
Communicative functions
1. Identify simple objects (clothing items) and describe their colours
2. Identify common animals
Pre-viewing Activities/Preparation

choose other items such as T-shirts or scarves to do this warm-up exercise.)
Create some fun. Ask the class to guess what the pig, the goat and the duck are going to run
away with. e.g. “What has the pig run away with? /What has the pig got? A hat or a scarf?”
To learn the names of the animals, teachers can ask the class to make the sounds and ask and
tell the answers in pairs or in teams:
OINK OINK - What animal is that? - It’s a pig.
MEH MEH - What animal is that? - It’s a goat.
QUACK QUACK - What animal is that? - It’s a duck.
Prepare the pupils for some interaction required while watching the programme.
a) In the programme, Jimmy would like the pupils to answer some questions such as “What
colour is the hat?” Please ask the class to follow the voice of the children and read aloud.
b) Jimmy would like the pupils to think and answer to these: “Which road should we take?
We are looking for some animals. Do we go to the farm? OR do we go to Crocodile
River?” Please encourage the pupils to say it together “To the farm.” with Jimmy.
While-viewing Activities
Part 1

While watching the programme, encourage the pupils to join in the singing.

2. Please say it together
Please also encourage the pupils to be interactive - follow the voice of the children in the
