The Research Committee of the American Renal Pathology Society, of wich I am a membership,
decided to organize an International Study Group on Renal Pathology, with the purpose to create
and stimulate an International Cooperation on the field of Renal Diseases.
All Continents are involved in this project.
I was charged to be the coordinator for the European Countries and I have already involved a team
of European Pathologists expert in Renal Pathology (Jan Bruijn, Leiden; Rudiger Waldherr,
Heidelberg) with a larg experience of cooperation (EUVAS-European Study Group of Vasculitis)
and able to score and standardize the morphological lesions.
The first project of study, proposed by the coordinator of the International Committee Patrik
Walker, is a clinico-morphological evaluation of Dense Deposits Disease (Forms attached).
Each interested Center should fill clinical, IF and EM forms and send them to me with the glass
slide of light microscopy for a necessary central evaluation and standardization of morphological
lesions.
I realize that is a great effort (probably not a great work for each center beeing DDD a rare disease)
but could be the starting point for further International studies on Renal Diseases.
Beeing for me a great organizing effort I would like to ask you a prompt answer either if you agree
to participate or you are not interested on the project.
