JUNIOR REGISTRATION INFORMATION
1. Please follow the chart to complete your 9 Step Registration.
2. After completing the form, go to your student portal and under course request enter the courses from
the form.
3. During your scheduled class time, a counselor will review your selection and LOCK your courses.
Step 1 Personal Information
A. Fill out your name, Student ID, Gender, Birthdate, and Phone.
B. Select a Diploma (refer to diploma chart or course catalog for details)
C. Write Education & Career Goal
Step 2 English Course
A. Select EN48 English
*Students wishing to enroll in EN70W (AP Jr. English) consult with your English
teacher and complete the Honors English Application.


If you failed a semester(s) of Freshman English or Sophomore English, you must retake the semester(s) you failed in
summer school.
Additional English courses are available for credit recovery but require a counselor approval to be placed in the course(s).
Step 3 Math Course (Four Years Required for Graduation)
A. Select MA40 Algebra II (MA41W requires a placement test if you did not receive an “A” in both semesters of MA27 and
MA30. Check with your Math teacher for test information.)
B. If you need to complete a semester(s) of a Math course for credit recovery you must retake it in summer
school.
C. Your current Math teacher will sign your registration form, indicating your proper math placement for next
year. If you have questions regarding your Math course placement, counselors will help you select the right
course on registration pick up day.
Step 4 Science Course (Three Years Required for Graduation)
A. If you have not passed the entire year of SC49 Biology or failed a semester you must retake it in summer
school.
B. Select any Science course for your required diploma.
 Please refer to the course catalog for prerequisites for science courses.
Step 5 Social Studies Course
A. Select SS34/SS35 American History I & American History II
*SS39W AP American History is available for students
(Refer to the course catalog for details and ask your current Social Studies teacher for additional information/ approval)
Step 6 A Hour or 7th Hour
A. Select YES or NO if you will be taking an “A” hour at 6:40a.m. or a “7th“ hour at 3:06 p.m.
B. If Yes for an “A” or “7th“ hour select the correct semester for the “A” or “7th“ hour.
C. “A” or “7th“ hour students must provide their own transportation. Busses are not available.

Step 7 Elective Courses
A. Fill out all 4 elective courses in order of preference for each semester from our attached elective course
offering list ONLY. (Course descriptions are available in the district course catalog)
B. YEAR LONG CLASS= write course on both semesters
C. SEMESTER LONG CLASS (S) = write course on one semester
D. Performing Arts is all year. Specific class placements are made after auditions.

MU80: Band
(Marching Band members need to check “A” hour for 1 st semester and write MU81 & MU83 as 1st semester electives.)
E. Traffic Safety can be taken 1st semester for students who turn 15 years and 7 months by November 1st and 2nd
semester for students who turn 15 and 7 months by April 1st. (Only one semester is needed)
F. Students wishing to enroll in the Biotechnology Academy must apply and will be notified if accepted.
G. Some electives may have a materials charge. (see elective list for amounts per class)
H. Students wanting to enroll in EVIT must first register at EVIT Campus and provide Mesa High a copy of
proof of registration. EVIT Campus (480)461-4108.


If proof of registration is provided, select EVIT A.M. or P.M on the registration form and write EVIT 1-3 or EVIT 4-6
in three (3) spaces for both semesters.
Students who register for EVIT must remain at EVIT through the semester. Changes cannot be made to your schedule
during the semester.
I. Teacher Training Program applications should be turned in with your registration packet. Students will then
be notified for interviews and placement in the program. See Mrs. Peterman for application and details.
Step 8 Sports
A. If you were on a sports team last year and plan to continue playing next year, place PE50 in an elective spot for
the correct semester.
B. If you plan to try out for a sport, choose PE47 as an elective for the correct semester.
Placement into Sports PE will be made after tryouts.

Please Note:
*Some courses may not be available to a student if the course is full or if the class is not offered due to low enrollment,
the student will then be placed in another available course
*Advanced Placement (AP) Courses provide the opportunity for college credit by testing at the end of the year.
*Dual Enrollment Courses provide community college and high school credit (dual enrollment) upon payment of
the community college tuition.
*AP/Honors Courses may carry a weighted high school credit that students receive at the completion of the year long class.
