NIGERIA:

RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE:

Nigeria’s stance on religious and ethnic intolerance shall remain, as always, disapproving. We as a country have had to face many upheavals; ranging from the religious tensions between the Christian Ibos and the Muslim Hausas. The problems that these intolerances inflict upon people can only be seen as base, and unnecessary.

We as a nation cannot condone such practices that take place within and outside our borders and when identified, the nation that does not conform to our policies on religious and ethnic intolerance shall be subject to various responses, ranging from trade sanctions and on to military intervention. As part of ECOMOG, or the Economic

Community of West African States Monitoring Group, Nigeria does have a right to intercede for another nation’s own benefit.

Such strong measures shall hopefully be avoided as trade sanctions shall be used as the foremost tool in dispatching religious and ethnic intolerance. In accordance with the UN’s OAU coalition force, the Inter-African army, unilateral movements against countries with ethnic and religious intolerance shall not be taken, unless the country is declared to have broken stated rules.

Trade sanctions shall include the following terms of restricted trade ranging from mild trade restrictions on the trade of weapons such as automatic rifle to the sale of foodstuffs. In the case of extreme escalation, a complete cut off of trade shall be declared, and all contemporary trade shall be halted until trade sanctions have ended.

Religious and ethnic intolerance, shall not be tolerated by Nigeria, and shall be responded to with trade sanctions. Nigeria reserves the right to impose these trade sanctions at any time in which a nation is declared to be religiously or ethnically intolerant. In case of reprisals, a multilateral military force, the OAU, shall be used to defend or intercede on another nation’s behalf.
