Why should your pet receive a professional dental assessment and treatment at All Paws Animal Hospital? At All Paws we feel thorough dental care is a vital part of your pet’s overall health. We provide high quality professional oral assessment and treatment using up to date techniques and equipment. Not all “dentals” are created equal. We strive to provide you and your pet with a high quality, good value service. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes for this procedure. Here are some reasons we recommend our facility for your pet’s dental care. Our veterinarians and technicians attend continuing education seminars to stay current with veterinary dental procedures and recommendations. Veterinary dental assessment and treatment is a growing field with new information available all of the time. Gaining knowledge is a priority here at All Paws. Prior to anesthesia we perform an exam to see if your pet will benefit and be a good candidate for the dental procedure. Age appropriate lab work will be done on your pet prior to anesthesia and the dental treatment. Lab work is essential to determine if your pet is healthy enough to receive anesthesia. We place an intravenous catheter in your pet’s leg so fluids can be administered throughout the procedure and during recovery. This IV catheter also is used to give the anesthetic induction agents. If extractions are suspected, which can be painful, the catheter also allows access to the vein for the administration of pain medication. Your pet will be constantly monitored by a Certified Veterinary Technician while under anesthesia. The technician monitors your pet’s vital signs: heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, the percent of oxygen in their blood, and temperature throughout the anesthesia.
