MONROE CITY RESIDENTIAL SOLID WASTE PROGRAM

Monroe City’s solid waste program has unlimited pickup service with the following exceptions:

Items banned from entering landfills

Construction wastes

Demolition wastes

These wastes are not included in the regular residential waste pickup program and it is the responsibility of the resident to dispose of them.

All non bulky trash is to be placed in plastic bags not to exceed 39 gallons in size and not weigh more than 60 pounds. Boxes are not to be used for storing non bulky trash.

Packing materials may be kept in boxes and placed at the curb for disposal. Loose trash will not be picked up. Bulky rubbish is to be kept separated from regular trash and yard wastes.

Bulky rubbish items:

Bulky items to large, heavy or awkward to be placed in plastic bags. These items include but are not limited to furniture and bedding.

 Carpeting must be cut lengthwise in 4’ sections, rolled and tied

Paint cans must have their lids removed and their contents dried up.

 Small amounts of wood if it is cut in 3’ lengths and tied.

Broken glass must be placed in a box lined with a trash bag that is open so that the broken glass is exposed.

Metal items such as swing sets

Appliances with coolants must have the coolant discharged and be properly tagged by a qualified contractor approved by the City.

Appliances and metal items will be picked up separately from other waste in accordance with the City’s current residential waste disposal contract.
