The Virtual Patient Focus Group An innovative and creative approach to soliciting patient feedback Author Biographical Information Agnese Bianchi, RN, BScN, MN agnese.bianchi@uhn.on.ca As a Project Manager, Agnese leads the clinical documentation initiative for nursing and allied health at University Health Network, Toronto, Canada. Her responsibilities include the development and implementation of an electronic documentation system that captures and guides practice based on patient-centred practice, best practice and patient outcomes. Sharon Rogers, B.A., M.H.Sc. Sharon.rogers@uhn.on.ca As the Director of Patient Relations, (Hospital Ombudsman), Sharon’s focus is the resolution of conflict that arises between patients/ family members and members of the healthcare team (or the institution) when patients receive health services at the University Health Network. The knowledge gained from the resolution of thousands of cases over the last fifteen years of practice has armed Sharon with the knowledge to give voice to patient/ family wants, needs, and expectations. The development of the Virtual Patient Focus Group offers a new way to hear that voice. Jane Moser, RN, BScN, MN Jane.moser@uhn.on.ca Jane provides a leadership role in nursing practice in a large multi site academic organization that is affiliated with the University of Toronto. In this role she works closely with university faculty to ensure evidence-based research is used to guide best practice and that students receive positive experiences during their clinical placements at the hospital. Jane is also cross appointed as lecturer to the Faculty of Nursing. Carol Roach, RN, BScN, MHA carol.roach@uhn.on.ca As a Project Manager, Carol’s broad clinical background that includes transplantation, ICU, emergency and home care has assisted in providing clients with clinical and informatics content in her areas of practice. Her work experience involves the nursing domains of clinical practice, research and education. Carol has collaborated and implemented a number of electronic health record initiatives such as OTTR (Outpatient Transplant Tracking Record), Clinical Desktop – Misys CPR, and associated chart projects such as Medication Order Entry/Medication Administration Record (MOE/MAR) and nursing documentation. Wendy Taylor, RN, BScN Wendy.taylor@uhn.on.ca A Project Manager in Nursing Informatics, Wendy has collaborated with the UHN IT department (SIMS) in the rollout of electronic medication order entry and medication administration record. She also leads initiatives in safer medication practice at UHN.
