CURRENT POSITION Since January 2004: programmer, web developer, researcher and lecturer within Liisa Holm’s Structural Genomics Group at the Institute of Biotechnology, University of Helsinki, Finland. http://www.holmgroup.org MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS Single-handed redesign of the Holm Group website, developing a corporate template, and implementing changeover from Tomcat to Zope application servers. This involved large-scale script translation and migration, creation of new web interfaces, and full configuration (security, proxies, logging, etc) of both the Zope back-end and Apache front-end. SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES Research Projects Programming and data-processing roles in a number of ongoing projects, including a modular, hierarchical evolutionary protein classification system, and the Global Trace Graph for remote homology search, fold assignment and transitive alignment. Living under canvas, the group had to cooperate in order to cope with the harsh African wilderness. Jan 1999 - Feb 1999 Travelled alone to Costa Rica to work in a cloudforest reserve, extending and mapping the trail system. Also some Spanish translation work. INTERESTS & OTHER SKILLS Sports & Fitness Cycling: In June 1999, I covered 1000+ miles in 13 days, from the most northerly to southerly points of British mainland. I also enjoy mountain biking.
