Opens 200th Airport Branch
The company with the most neighborhood branches opens 200th airport outlet, continuing
double-digit airport growth that’s rare in the industry
PHILADELPHIA, May 5, 2005 – Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the largest rental car company in North
America, today announced it is continuing its successful push into the airport car-rental market
with the opening of its 200th airport branch in Philadelphia. This year marks the eighth
consecutive year of double-digit growth in Enterprise’s airport rental car business.
“We are pleased our customers continue to want the same service at the airport that they get
from Enterprise in their own neighborhoods,” said Rob Hibbard, vice president of rental
development for Enterprise. “Our goal is to extend the same high standard of customer service
that we’re known for in our 6,000 neighborhood locations to the airports near our customers,
and in this case, it was Philadelphia International Airport,” Hibbard said.
Enterprise’s arrival marked the first time in 15 years a new car rental company has opened at
the Philadelphia International Airport.
The new branch represents the latest example of Enterprise’s continuing push into the
competitive airport rental car market nationwide. The airport market accounts for about 50
percent of the $18 billion U.S. rental car industry, although the airport rental car business has
been depressed for most competitors since 2001.
Conversely, Enterprise continues to open as many as three airport branches a month, in
addition to continuing to open more than one branch every business day in the local, or nonairport, market.
