FOR 523/EFB 523 Tropical Ecology 3 credit hours One hour of lecture coupled with a period of intensive field study over spring break on a tropical island in the Caribbean. Principles of tropical ecology, resource management, and island biogeography are presented. Field trips to a variety of tropical ecosystems including: rain forest, coral reefs, crater lakes and montane rain forest. Comparisons with north temperate ecosystems are made. Additional fees required to cover cost of travel and lodging during field portion of course. (Deposit required by midDecember). Spring. Prerequisite: EFB 320 (General Ecology) or equivalent.
