Description of job role - a typical day in the life e.g.
Trainee ROV Pilot Technician
Actively seeking a practical person with an aptitude for either
electronic, electrical, hydraulic or mechanical maintenance
engineering
Overview Description







Test, maintain and operate ROV system under
supervision.
Assist colleagues when required with planned
maintenance.
Understands safety and environmental requirements
during launch and recovery and deck operations.
To understand use of Sonar, changes in range/scales,
use of acoustic positioning systems used by ROV’s.
Administration duties to include completion of dive
records – video, audio, and written.
Should be knowledgeable of fundamentals of ROV
hydraulics systems, ROV electrics and electronics.
Ability to assist with changing major hydraulic electronic
and electrical components.

challenging environments.
This position reports to the shift Supervisor or Project Manager
Future career progression can lead to supervisory positions
offshore up to Vessel Manager or ability to transfer in to an
onshore management position e.g. Project Management, Senior
Management, engineering or other technical positions.

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL

A nationally recognised technical or trade qualification
(Military Services Qualification) and/or appropriate level
national vocational qualification is acceptable
completed in one or more of the following subjects:
a) electrical
b) electronics
c) hydraulics
d) mechanics
DESIRABLE

HND in Electrical, Mechanical or Hydraulics

Hours of work
Salary band
Hours of work are 12 hour shifts with offshore work patterns of up
to 6 weeks offshore at a time with time off in between trips of
approximate equal length of time off.
Its expected offshore staff work between 5-7 months offshore a
year.
Circa £30-40K pa plus benefits.
