337 Calves
Buyers and Sellers –Thank you for supporting us.
Friday 7th February 2014 the 42 day old calf will have been
born on the 28th December 2013.
WE PAY ON THE DAY.
Identical numbers to twelve months ago saw a TREMENDOUS
TRADE.
Top Continentals to £376, for David Boden’s Simmental with an
all-in average of £262. Limousin Heifers £335 for R.D. Roberts,
Overton on Dee.
Natives continue to ring the bell selling to £301 for J.M. & J.K.
Cliffe. Heifers to £178 for David Drinkall. Black and Whites to
£126, averaging £72.
A fantastic trade when you consider many calves are being sold
younger on the back of the current milk price, the depressed beef
trade, and the appalling weather.
15 Weanlings to £490 for a pair of six month old Simmental
Steers.
Plenty of interest, more required next week!
133 CONTINENTALS
70 Continental Bulls, Overall average £262.50.
No £400 Calves this week. Top price £376 for David Boden,
closely followed at £374 for W.A. & D. Dutton’s Blue and Brian
Jones Limousin at £372. Other Limousins £368 for R.D. Roberts.
Medium quality look serious compared to the best with £300 still
easily achievable. Best £340 plus. Mediums £280 - £320. Others
from £180.

Fitton & Son with Mamex Farms Ltd close behind at £300.

very young types less money!

13 Aberdeen Angus x to £280, averaging £194.00.
Herefords to £301 for J.M. & J.K. Cliffe & Son who had two
more at £255. An excellent trio. Angus fetched £280 for
A.& C. Drinkall. Herefords average £203 and Aberdeen
Angus £194. Trade a fair reflection on a somewhat younger
bunch of bulls forward. Its our pleasure to welcome all
calves at Beeston, but be aware one more week does put
these Bulls into the £250 - £300 bracket!
Our Top Five Bulls:
£301 Her x – J.M. & J.K. Cliffe & Son
£280 AA x – A. & C. Drinkall

Similar story to the Bulls. Price reflected the age of the Calves.
P.J. Edwards’ Hereford made £178 and D.A. & E.M. Drinkall!
Aberdeen Angus made £165. Some great Cow Makers about
but they just require further feeding to hit that £200 mark.
Native Cross Bred Heifer averages:
14 Aberdeen Angus x to £165, averaging £121.50.
16 Hereford x to £178, averaging £106.19.

VENDORS: Please present your Native Calves promptly
for the 8.30 am start. Buyers Lorries are prepared to leave
the market at 11.15 am with these calves and late arrivals
could suffer from decreased buying power!

111 CULL COWS & OTM
111 Trade seemed depressed but it worked out not as
bad as seen in the ring. Trade has held up better than
the Prime Beef Cattle Market. Best Black & White
Cows still in the teens up to 117.5p or £963, Heifers to
131p or £841. Keep the cattle coming more needed
each week it doesn't pay to keep them at the moment
especially as we are still in the depths of winter. Please
do not hesitate to contact us regarding the current or
expected trade. Auctioneer Simon Lamb would be
pleased to answer any questions regarding trade and
the forecast. 07815 188125.

33 A few less this week met a trade as good as any local
centre. We could do with more numbers. If you have some
to sell why not try us. WE DO PAY ON THE DAY. Yes
prices have eased back again from the trade seen in the
autumn and heavy penalties for stock outside the ideal
grades. Also heavy penalties for non assured stock. All
pressures from the supermarket buyers. Despite the price
decline the deadweight is still up by 3% compare to the
same week last year. Its not as bad as we think. If you have
some to market please contact Alastair 07831 395167

IMPORTANT NOTICE
FARM ASSURANCE
Due to the Farm assurance body unable to give us a real time
database or actual up to date information on your assurance status
we rely on YOU the producers to give us the correct information.
Therefore if you present your cattle as farm assured when they are
not this is a misdescription and you are representing your cattle
fraudulently.
When the animal gets to the abattoir they have specific outlets for
these animals and often don’t for nonfarm assured stock so they
deduct massively. This is due to the time and loss of animal to the
batch that was bought for a specific job.
They cannot be returned from an abattoir therefore you are in their
hands. The deduction could be £150.
PLEASE GIVE US THE CORRECT INFORMATION

Question: Are you better selling them as Stores and letting
someone else finish them especially at the cost of feed at the
current price? Answers on a postcard! or contact Alastair
who will be pleased to market them for you. Alastair 07831
