Purpose of the volunteer role
To provide research support to the community fundraising programme – and ActionAid’s youth
fundraising programme.
The role will focus on providing event and logistics support for our University engagement event in
March. The event will take place in London and will have the primary purpose of engaging University
Raising and Giving Societies from across the UK.
The role will also focus on providing research support to the community fundraising area to help
grow ActionAid’s pool of supporter groups, as well as researching companies and competitors to
assist in the development of a new celebrations fundraising product.
Key tasks and responsibilities

Proactively researching student events, interests and opportunities in order to maximise on
fundraising opportunities at the event
Sourcing prizes and vouchers for students and University groups
Creating goodie packs and resources to engage Universities throughout MegaRaid
Researching ethical companies involved in wedding planning
Doing competitor research on supporter groups and celebration fundraising products

Knowledge, Experience, skills and abilities
Essential
Outgoing and enthusiastic person
Desirable
Interest in fundraising and/or the international
development sector
Good organisational skills, attention to detail and
the ability to maintain administrative systems
Knowledge of student fundraising
Competent in the basic use of Word and Excel
Strong research skills
Confident and personable telephone manner
Fundraising or event experience
Ability to collect and assess information using
analytical research skills – identifying key points,
drawing conclusions and presenting in a clear and
concise format
Excellent written skills with an ability to edit
documents to make them clear and compelling
Pro-active 'can do' attitude with an ability to work
on own initiative and with minimum supervision
Excellent prioritisation skills and the ability
to manage own time effectively
