RESUME OF JAMES F. GIBSON

CANDIDATE FOR KENNESAW KENNEL CLUB BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITION

2011 -2012 TERM

GENERAL COMMENTS ON MY QUALIFICATIONS FOR KKC BOARD :

I ask for your consideration to represent our club as a member of the KKC Board of Directors. I am a highly qualified candidate for this role because of my extensive experience in all aspects of Dog Shows, Dog Clubs, necessary interactions with Superintendents, and AKC rules and regulations. I understand the issues facing our sport today. Finally, my professional experience has prepared me with the skill set required to function within various diverse groups while successfully expressing my own viewpoint. I am a seasoned representative with all levels of contacts within both my industry and government. This illustrates my abilities and successes that I expect to utilize as a director of our Club . I solicit your attendance and vote at the Annual (November) meeting of the KENNESAW KENNEL CLUB.

DOG SHOW EXPERIENCE:

I have been actively involved in the sport of dogs since 1972 when we adopted a rescued Great Dane and were surprised by a purebred litter three weeks later. In 1974 we bought a Miniature Schnauzer. During our time with

Schnauzers, I served as Vice President and Match Chairman of the Miniature Schnauzer Club of Atlanta.

We became interested in Borzoi at the Tallahassee Shows in the spring of 1975. We acquired our first Borzoi in

May of that year and immediately began exhibiting. We purchased our first Borzoi bitch later that year. Her first litter allowed her to be recognized by Kennel Review as having tied for Top Producer of Champions in the breed for 1979.

In the 1980’s and early 1990’s, we also successfully bred and exhibited Italian Greyhounds.

We are life members of three kennel clubs, the Atlanta and Kennesaw Kennel Clubs since 1974 and the

Borzoi Club of America since 1975. I have served these organizations in the following capacities:

Atlanta Kennel Club: Recording Secretary (1978 – 1980); Match Chairman (1990 - 1993); Chief Ring

Steward (several years).

Kennesaw Kennel Club : Co-Trophy Chairman (1976 - 1979); Board Member (1977, 1984, 1998, 2009);

Treasurer (1982 - 1983); Vice-President (1991, 2004, 2005); President (1992, 1993, 2006, 2007, and 2008);

Show Chairman (1986, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999); ACK Delegate ( 2009 – Present).

Borzoi Club of America: Chairman of two BCOA National Specialties (1980 and 1997); Southern Regional

Vice-President (1982-1984); and Region 2 (Southeastern) Governor (2005 - 2008); Committee Member of the

Beverly Taylor Trust for Borzoi Rescue.

JUDGING: I am currently approved, by the American Kennel Club, to judge Borzoi (1985), Italian

Greyhounds, (1988), and Junior Showmanship. I have formal education in this area; I attended Judges

Institutes on three different occasions (for full week seminars). This includes one sponsored by the Senior

Conformation Judges Association, another was an American Kennel Club Judges Institute, and the last was the

AKC Hound Judges Institute. Finally, I have presented breed judging seminars (Borzoi) for the Judges

Association of Georgia.

RING STEWARDING: My experience includes working as a Ring Steward, co-authoring a pamphlet documenting steward responsibilities and procedures, and training new stewards for their duties. In fact, I

- 1 -

stewarded for all Atlanta Kennel Club shows from 1975 thru 1993, many Kennesaw Kennel Club shows, as well as many Specialty Club Shows in Metro-Atlanta. My Stewarding Class Instruction was conducted for several local organizations.

SHOW TRAINING CLASSES: I have acted as an Instructor for conformation training classes sponsored by the Atlanta KC and the Kennesaw KC (for the last fifteen or so years).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I am an Engineering graduate of Auburn University (Class of 1961). I retired from the Lockheed Martin

Aeronautics Company in Advanced Design after 38+ years of service and am currently a self-employed

Aerospace Engineering Consultant. My experiences involved both technical presentations and industry expertise to senior level contacts within the United States Air Force as well as other organizations such as

AIRBUS Industries in Bremen, Germany.

I have held memberships on Technical Standards Committees of both the Aerospace Industries Association and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
