To supervise staff and students working evening hours in the Circulation, Library Media, and Security units and to ensure building security at closing. Ensure smooth functioning of unit through problem solving when necessary. Ensure that stacks maintenance functions (pick-ups, shelving, and shelf reading) are completed efficiently as assigned. Training staff and student assistants in service desk or shelving routines as required. Communicate regularly with supervisor. Perform circulation and reserve services for users at the circulation desk, using automated and manual systems. Coordinate hold request processing and routing of materials to and from other 25% 15% 15% 7% 3% 3% 2% USMAI libraries; process requests when appropriate staff are unavailable or backlogs occur. Detect and resolve problems; assure timely response to inquiries from patrons or other libraries. Shelve and shift books, shelf read and inventory collection. Alternating with other staff, supervise (includes opening and closing) circulation unit during weekend hours of operation. Open and close library building in lieu of security officer. Compile monthly statistics. Act as liaison from Circulation unit to Library mending services, including charging and discharging books to mending using automated system. Other duties as assigned.
