Writing Prompts by Grade Level Second Grade 1. Think about your first day at school this year. Write about your first day at school. 2. Think about one Saturday when you were out of school and did something special. You might have done something with your family or a friend. Tell about your Saturday. 3. Think about a time when you were scared. Write a story about what happened that made you scared. 4. Think about a time you did something really special with your mom, dad, or another adult.
