Hepsen Mine SERİN AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: To give the experience on different areas of pediatrics, from healthy to desperately ill child and from most common illnesses to those requiring extensive diagnostic studies. During the course students use their theoretical knowledge, gained during previous years of education in clinical practice under the direct supervision of the academic staff. Students are particularly aimed to have capability of making differential diagnosis in their life-time practice in Türkiye. COURSE CONTENTS: Lectures: General Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Hematology, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Infectious Disease, Neonatology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Allergy, Pediatric Oncology. Clinical Practices: Initial contact with hospitalized patient (history, physical examination) Perform basic laboratory procedures (e.g. peripheral blood smear, hematocrit, urine analysis, stool microscopy and reducing substances) Attend morning reports, clinical rounds, seminars, journal clubs, and six night call per month at the wards or emergency service, rotation at the general outpatient clinic for three days.
