Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate Program Student Work Plan Course Requirements The TESOL certificate is a certificate granted by Montclair State University. It is primarily intended for students who wish to teach outside the United States. It does not grant certification to teach in the state of New Jersey. For non-native speakers of English, Second Field Certification in TESL requires the completion of an English Language placement examination and any courses that may required following the results of that examination.
