IMPORTANT NOTICE FARM ASSURANCE Due to the Farm assurance body unable to give us a real time database or actual up to date information on your assurance status we rely on YOU the producers to give us the correct information. Therefore if you present your cattle as farm assured when they are not this is a misdescription and you are representing your cattle fraudulently. When the animal gets to the abattoir they have specific outlets for these animals and often don’t for nonfarm assured stock so they deduct massively. This is due to the time and loss of animal to the batch that was bought for a specific job. They cannot be returned from an abattoir therefore you are in their hands. The deduction could be £150. Approval has finally been given for a proposed new Auction Centre and Rural Business Hub close to junction 18 of the M6, following submission of a proposal by two well-known firms of Auctioneers, Estate Agents and Valuers, Frank Marshall LLP and Wright Manley LLP, in conjunction with Pochin Land and Development. The two firms have previously announced their intention to merge this coming April into the new firm of WRIGHT MARSHALL. Landlords of both the existing sites at Chelford and Beeston have obtained planning consent for alternative development and Partners in the two businesses felt the best way to safeguard and improve their diverse auctioneering businesses was to develop a new Centre with purpose built facilities, in an accessible location. Nationally renowned developers Pochin were able to offer a suitable site, together with the required planning and development experience and expertise, and at last Thursday’s meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee at Cheshire West and Chester Council, the proposal was approved. Gwyn Williams, Partner in Frank Marshall said “We are delighted with the outcome, which now guarantees the survival and future growth of our long established auctioneering business. We currently conduct nearly £60 million worth of business on behalf of the rural economy and believe that this new, state of the art, Auction Centre will enable us to build upon the success of our diverse auctioneering business”. The current markets hold extensive sales of livestock and farm produce, horticultural produce, agricultural and contractors plant and machinery, attracting vendors and buyers from throughout the UK. The merger of the two businesses brings together not only the auctioneering expertise, but also 8 Estate Agency and Valuation offices throughout the region, along with an internationally-renowned Fine Arts business conducted from two salerooms. Nigel Eckersley, Partner in Wright Manley, commented “We recognise the potential of the CHESHIRE FRESH development at Middlewich to provide high quality and purpose built facilities suitable for modern day requirements. The forthcoming merger of our businesses into WRIGHT MARSHALL offers potential for an exceptional business to be located in this region, the consent we have now obtained being the first step towards the development of a business able to compete with the very best in the UK”. Wright Manley Beeston Castle Auction Tel: 01829 262 132 7 SALES Wright Manley Pedigree & Commercial Dairy Cattle Department Tel: 01829 262 120 REPORT 10000 GNS RECORD BREAKER FROM PICSTON STEALS THE SHOW AT BEESTON FOCUS MILK SALE The Western Club’s March Focus Milk Show and Sale attracted an entry of 40 cows and heifers for its monthly event. Henry Sanderson of the Lancashire based Sandley Herd judged the sale and for his champion he selected Picston Spitfire Baby (VG89-3yr) (EX-MS) consigned by Spotacre Farms of Hilderstone, Stone. In reserve was Bidlea Trendsetter Mab 2nd (GP82-2yr) from Ray Brown & Partners of Holmes Chapel. The star of the sale was undoubtedly the Champion animal for which there was lots of hype and quite rightly so. This was a wonderful young cow with tremendous power and width but yet still dairy and she had a quite fabulous udder. She scored a maximum 89 points in her second lactation having calved at the beginning of December. This daughter of the Goldwyn son, Riverdane Spitfire, was sold giving 56 kg daily. As you can imagine there was a huge amount of interest in her prior to sale with five potential bidders on the phone alone. The bidding opened at 4000 gns and quickly rose to the final bid of 10000 gns when the hammer was knocked down at 10000 gns to Cyril Millar of Coleraine, Northern Ireland for his Millars Herd. The next three top prices were also purchased by Dyfrig Davies of Pencader Carmarthenshire whose leading purchase was Bidlea Saratoga Ariane (VG85-2yr) and 8th generation in the top two grades from Ray Brown and Partners.
