Volleyball Information Packet and Parent/Player
Contract
Welcome: Congratulations and welcome to the 2013 LMS Volleyball team. You
have been chosen to represent LaVergne Middle School on and off of the
volleyball court, and I am excited about each player that has been selected to
contribute to our teams. These girls were chosen out of many who tried out; it’s a
big accomplishment, and now it’s time to get to work,
Practice Schedule: During the school year, we will practice from 3:15 – 5:00
each day, Monday through Friday; unless there are scheduled Varsity/JV
matches. Varsity and JV will practice together. The girls need to come to practice
PREPARED each day: t-shirt, shorts, knee pads, and athletic shoes. Players
need to come to practice prepared to work hard. We accomplished a lot last
season, and I am expecting to build and improve upon those accomplishments. It
starts in practice; practice like you will play in a match!!
Attendance: Attendance at all team functions is MANDATORY; all practices,
matches, fundraising events, etc. If you are going to be absent from school or
any of the above events, I need an email in advance so I can plan accordingly.
Even if your daughter is sick for the day, I need an email from you in the morning
so I can plan practice for her not being there. If you miss school that day, players
may not participate in any extracurricular activities, including matches.
Practices will start promptly at designated times.
** 1st unexcused absence: running, suspension from game play
** 2nd unexcused absence: dismissal from team
Please note: JV players are not required to attend Varsity matches. I would like
for them to be there; as it will provide a great learning experience. JV players will
have the opportunity all season to earn Varsity playing time. If a Varsity player is
not performing well, I will have them play in a JV match to work on her skills.
Transportation: Parents are responsible for transporting players to and from
games and practice. I can provide directions to matches if needed, just let me
know in advance. On game days, students will be dismissed from school at 3:00,
and we will leave LMS by 3:05. I will not transport students to and from games. I
will have an email list set up to communicate with parents throughout the
summer and season. You can use this list to communicate with other parents if
you will be unable to transport your daughter to a match.
Playing Time: Playing time in matches is NOT GUARENTEED. LMS does not
have a mandatory playing time rule similar to recreational play. Players will earn
playing time in practice; I will judge playing time on hustle, attitude, skill level,
classroom behavior and grades, and overall performance.
** If you ever have a question about your daughter’s playing time, I will be
happy to tell you what she needs to work on in order to get more playing
time. Please follow the 24 hour rule; meaning email or call me the next
day if you have an issue, which allows emotions to settle. Please note that
I will never allow you to criticize or compare you daughter to another girl
on the team.
Player Fee: The player fee this season will be $80.00. With this, your daughter
will receive team socks, t-shirt, some type of warm up gear, and POSSIBLY
spandex shorts. You are responsible for supplying your daughter’s knee pads. In
addition to the player fee, players will be responsible for fundraising efforts to
help support the volleyball program. The player fee will be due the first day of
practice, which allows for time to come up with funds if it presents a problem.
Grades and Behavior: Grades come first; PERIOD. The girl’s are at LMS to
make good grades, and start developing into young women that will be
successful in high school and in life. If they are struggling in the classroom, I will
allow them to get extra help and miss practice, because that is most important. I
want to win matches and I expect to, but I will not sacrifice volleyball over what
should be your first priority. Players must have C’s and above on all report cards
and progress reports. Failure to do so will result in the following:
Grades:
** D: One game suspension for each D
** F: two game suspension
** Multiple F’s: Dismissal from team
Classroom Behavior:
** First write up: 30 wind sprints and one game suspension
** Second write up: 60 wind sprints and two game suspension
** Third write up: Dismissal from team
***Discipline in any manner is non-negotiable***
Agreement Contract
I agree to all of the previously mentioned terms listed for the 2013 LaVergne
Middle School Volleyball team. I understand my responsibilities as a

understand that when I am on the court I am representing myself, my coach, and
my school, and I will represent them to the best of my ability. I know and
understand the consequences if my actions fail to meet the expectations of the
LMS Volleyball team.
