David Haselgrove
Pembrokeshire
Joined St John in 1963 and held key positions in St John in Buckinghamshire whilst employed as a
Paramedic Officer within the Two-Shires Ambulance Service. On retirement in 2005 he moved to
Wales transferring his membership of St John at the same time. His ability as a leader was quickly
recognized and he became DOIC of Haverfordwest, being instrumental in preparing the new County
Headquarters opened in 2010.
Lord Aberdare, DL
Headquarters
Lord Aberdare first joined the Order in 2009 as an Independent Trustee sitting on the Priory Chapter
Board. His presence as a member of our Order follows a long family tradition with the charity, his
father being a former Prior.
PROMOTION TO OFFICER
William Jones
Cardiff and the Vale
First joined St John in 1995 and was a member/trainer in the Barry Rescue Division until 2003 when
he became DOIC of the Cowbridge Division. He was appointed Assistant Regional Training Officer
for the South Wales Region in January 2011. Having been a physical education and sports teacher
he had an interest in first aid for many years so was well prepared to take on the role of trainer. In
2007 Bill was given the opportunity to travel to Lusaka in Zambia to train young people first aid skills.

Andrew Venn Bayliss
West Glamorgan
First joined St John in 1984 as a Cadet and became the Member in Charge of the Pontarddulais
Division in 2008, being promoted to DOIC of the same Division in 2011, a post he still holds. In his
professional life Andrew is a national manager of a large catering company where he oversees the
development of new major business contracts.
John David Meredith Jones
North West Wales
As a Solicitor, Mr Jones has found time to fulfill the role of Secretary of the North West Wales St John
Council. He has vast experience as a Tribunal Chairman for Mental Health Services, and for many
years was the Coroner for North East Wales
Mrs Lynda Cook
Pembrokeshire
Lynda joined St John in Aldridge, West Midlands and was an active Cadet until 1975 when she
started her nurse training. During that time she competed in many competitions and won a cup for
the highest individual marks at one event. In 2001 she joined Milford Haven Division becoming a
trainer and an assessor and was subsequently appointed Regional Training Officer. As a registered
nurse Lynda has made a massive contribution to the development of individuals by arranging many
courses across a range of subjects to ensure their competency. She has contributed on an all Wales
basis by being an active member of the Training Committee. Her total commitment to St John is
demonstrated by the achievement of a total of 996 voluntary hours during 2010.
Miss Charlotte Ann Giles
Ceredigion
Charlotte became a member of the Cardigan Division in 2003 having previously been a Youth Leader
with the British Red Cross in East Sussex. She was initially persuaded to become Divisional
Secretary and subsequently appointed DOIC in 2008. She has worked tirelessly since her
appointment to turn around the Division to a highly successful one. Her personal hours as a volunteer
have exceeded 600 and she qualified as a Driving Assessor in 2010 and a Trainer in 2011. She has
facilitated the move from the courthouse in Cardigan to the Youth Club in Pontycleifion which has
been very successful in attracting new members from that area.
Daniel Owen Lewis
South West Wales
Danny joined St John as a Cadet in Ystradgynlais Division in 1989 and became the Division’s
youngest ever Divisional Secretary in 1992, a position he held for the following 8 years. For two
decades, and for all his adolescent and adult life, he has been a committed and dedicated member of
St John. He has served at Divisional, County, Regional and National level in a wide variety of roles,
but in particular as a leading St John youth worker. His enthusiasm and commitment has been
extraordinary over this time, and has shaped the lives of many around him. He is a qualified nurse
currently working as a Senior Charge Nurse at Morriston Hospital. He is now the Regional Training
Officer for the South West Wales Region.
Glyn Parry-Jones
North West Wales
Retiring as a manager of Natwest Bank in Mold, Flintshire Glyn was ideally placed to become
Treasurer of North East Wales St John Council in 2008 and has given much of his time in the role
since. Having served in many areas of Wales he has a good knowledge of the principality and it is felt
that this Admission to the Order will deepen his involvement and enthusiasm of the work of the North
East Wales Council.
