Daily News Bulletin Tuesday, March 08, 2011 GENERAL SPORTS PROM: The junior-senior prom is April 16 from 8 pm until 11 pm. Prom tickets will go on sale March 14 through March 23. NO tickets will be sold after that. The price will be $10 each which will include a prom glass or mug, party cup and dessert. Tickets will be sold each morning by the high school office from 7:45 until the first bell. During the day, you may buy them from Mrs. Breese in the library. Only Juniors and Seniors may buy tickets. If your date is not from Fatima, you must sign him/her up when you purchase your tickets. The age requirement is high school through 20 years old. ID’s will be checked. Any student who has delinquent class dues cannot attend prom (we have a list). See Mrs. Luebbert or Mrs. Breese with any questions. The prom decorating committee is encouraging everyone to wear a mask as the theme is Midnight Masquerade. Students who come into prom wearing a mask will get to put their name in a drawing for $25. Winning ticket will be drawn just prior to the crowning. Must be present to win. The Winter Sports Banquet is March 20, 6:00 PM at the Lion’s Hall. Athletes are free and all others are $8. Sign up and pay in the HS office. Athletes: PLEASE let us know whether you will be or will not be attending! The deadline to sign up to attend is FRIDAY. If you signed up for yearbook return your application to Mrs. Van Kirk by Friday. If you wanted to sign up but didn’t, make sure you get an application from Mrs. Van Kirk. StuCo is hosting a blood drive on March 11. Sign up on the trophy case. If you are under age 17, you must have your parents complete a consent form. You must have a picture ID with you. Parental consent forms are in the office on the counter. See Mrs. Hoffman with questions. Money will be collected through March 11 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our goal is $300. Keep donating to help support all of the children with blood cancers in Missouri. The winning class will earn pizza on Tues, March 15. Totals so far are: FCCLA: Our next club night is Fri, March 11 from 5:008:30. We will be playing games and watching movies. Pizza, soda and ice cream will be provided. Please sign up with Mrs. Libbert if you plan on attending so she knows how much pizza to buy. If you will be attending, please bring a snack to share! The next member meeting is March 15 during homeroom. . The Sketcher Assembly is March 16 from 2:10 -3:10. NHS Faculty Challenges: We are only $80 away from the 2nd tier in the NHS Challenge. Baseball: The Blue & Gold Scrimmage is Friday, March 18, 4:30 PM (9th/JV/V). Varsity and JV will host Helias for the first game of the season on Monday, March 21 at 5:00 PM. Both teams travel to Hallsville on Tues, March 22 to play at 5:00. On Thurs, March 24 we host St. James at 4:30 and the Fatima Varsity Tourney is March 25/26. Golf: V/JV will travel to Linn on March 21 for the first golf match of the season – 3:30 tee off. On Thurs March 24 we play at New Bloomfield at 4:00 and at Eugene for the County Cup at 9:00 AM on March 30. Girls Soccer: The Blue & Gold Scrimmage is Friday, March 18 at 6:00 PM (9th/JV/V). V/JV host School of the Osage at 5:00 PM on Monday, March 21. Both teams host Mexico on Tuesday, March 22, 5:00 kickoff. JH Track: The first meet of the season is at Linn on Monday, March 21, 3:30. We host the Blue & Gold Relays Tuesday, March 29 at 2:30. JH and HS travel to Linn for the Osage-Cole County Challenge Thursday, April 7 at 3:30 then travel to Eldon on Friday for a 2:30 start. We travel to Linn with the HS for the Show Me Conference Track Meet Tues, April 12, 3:00. The Dixon Inv. is Monday, April 18 at 3:00. Linn Relays are Thurs, April 21, 3:30 and the last meet is at Belle Thurs, April 28 at 3:30. Track: Varsity and JV host the first track meet of the season at 3:15 on Thurs, March 24. On March 31 they travel to Linn for a 1:00 meet. The Fatima II Rick Buersmeyer Invitational is Tue, April 5 at 3:00. On Thursday, April 7 we travel with the JH team to Linn for the Osage-Cole County Challenge, 3:30. GUIDANCE Students age 12-18: In he case of a wide spread disaster, professional emergency personnel will not be able to respond to every citizen’s needs. Learn the basic critical skills needed before, during and after a disaster to protect yourself, your family, your friends and your community. Teen CERT teams will learn all the skills taught in the federal CERT program, be introduced to many career opportunities within the emergency response field and help their community prepare for a disaster. Topics include disasters, disaster preparedness and mitigation; light search and rescue; disaster first-aid; emotional first-aid; disaster teamwork and communications; animals and technology in disasters. Meetings will be held Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 on 3/24, 3/31, 4/14, 4/21, 4/28 at Emergency Management, 1736 Southridge Drive, Jefferson City, MO. Work Mon-Fri from 4-9PM. Salary is $7.50 per hour. MENU AP Exam: If any student plans to take an AP exam you must complete the form and attach a check for $87 per exam. This must be returned to Mueller by Wed, March 9. Tutoring: Mrs. Mueller will offer before school tutoring on Monday’s and Tuesday’s to anyone who wants it, but YOU MUST TELL HER YOU WILL BE HERE THE DAY BEFORE or she won’t show up and you won’t get your hours. Ms. Steinman will offer tutoring Wednesdays and Fridays. Sophomores and Juniors: Consider attending the Missouri Public Affairs Academy July 9-16 at Missouri State University in Springfield. On March 15 – the Ides of March – all sophomores are scheduled to take the ASVAB test, which will help determine a career path and cluster. On that day, all sophomores will eat 1st lunch shift. Sophomores A-Ke will test in the morning before lunch, and Kl-Z after lunch. You do not need to bring anything to the gym for testing except a clear mind and a heart ready to work. Juniors with a strong academic background and an annual household income of less than $60,000: Apply for the Questbridge College Prep Scholarship at www.questbridge.org to qualify for numerous scholarships, assistance in applications, all-expense-paid campus visits and computers! Deadline is March 29. Seniors w/ a 3.0 or above GPA: Apply for the Jefferson City Eagles – Aerie 2693 scholarship. Four $1000 scholarships will be awarded. April 22 deadline. If you work or have volunteered at Capital Region and plan to pursue a career in healthcare, apply for the partners auxiliary scholarship.
