On 1st Jully 1998 Akola district was divided into two seperate
districts as - Akola & Washim in new Akola district there are 7 blocks
that are divided into two sub divisions for agriculture department as
Sub Division Akola includes 3 blocks as Akola,Barshitakli & Murtizapur
& Sub Division Akot includes 4 blocks as Akot , Telhara ,Balapur,Patur.

 Climate District falls in assured rain fall zone hence receives mansoon
rains during June to October. The Ava annual rain fall of the district is 714.1
m.m.spread over 47 rainy days in normal condition.The district charecrised by
warm & humid climate in June to October.and later on threr is gradual decline in
temp from November onwards. Cool & dry climate is observed duringNov to Jan.
March , April , May are the hottest months The Ava , Max & Min Temp of the Distt
is 47.9 & 12 degree cel.
-2 sowing period
In Akola Distt. there are following 3 seasons of crops as per sowing
time
a. Kharip season - for
Premansoon cotton - from 20th May to 31st May
Kharif Cotton
-
From 15 June to 30th June.
Major crops - Cotton , Jower, tur , mug, udid , soyabean,sunflower.
b. Rabbi Season - from 15 sept. to mid of Nov.
Major crops - Wheat , safflower , gram , sunflower.
c. Summer season - from first week of Janeury to Feb. end
Major Crop - summer Gr. nut , summer mug .

 Croping Pattren The total net sown area in district is 4.96 lakh ha. of which about
mainly 4.82 lakh ha ( 97 %) area lies under kharip crops , 0.46 lakh ha (9 % )
under rabbi crops & 0.02 lakh ha under summer crops.
The White gold cotten is the main cash crop of the district ,
occupying 1. 98 lakh ha ( about 42 % of ava. kharip area).An area of 0.90 lakh
ha ( about 20 % of ava. kharip area).is under food grains of which jowar is the
major crop occupying an area of 0.86 lakh ha. Details about other crops grown
