SECTION 10431 – PRECAST INSERTS PART 1 – GENERAL 1.01 A. 1.02 THE REQUIREMENT The Work specified in this Section consists of the manufacturing and installation of precast inserts into new and existing concrete sidewalks as shown in the Drawings. RELATED WORK SPECIFIED ELSEWHERE A. Demolition – Section 02050 B. Concrete Sidewalk – Section 02510 1.03 A. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Structural Performance: 1. Loads: pedestrian-rated, equivalent to concrete paving requirements. PART 2 – PRODUCTS 2.01 PRECAST INSERTS A. General: Submit each item in this Article according to the Conditions of the Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections. B. Samples: C. 1. Submit minimum 12 inch diameter sample of color pre-cast insert for review and approval. CONSULTANT reserves the right to request samples until a satisfactory color is obtained. Accordingly, submit samples so as not to jeopardize completion date of project. 2. Submit one finished paving insert of each size (12”, 18” and 24”) for review and approval by CONSULTANT, prior to fabrication of remaining inserts. Approved sample will be used to measure quality of subsequent medallion fabrication. Submit complete shop drawings of the following: 1. Plans and details relating to the fabrication of each specified size of precast insert. 2. Obtain CONSULTANTS approval. D. Maintenance literature: submit three copies of maintenance recommendations by APA (Architectural Precast Association) and maintenance product members of APA, to Owner. E. INSTALLATION Inset inserts into concrete paving flush with adjacent finished grade, at locations indicated on Hardscape Plans. Utilize grout, sealant and/or anchoring dowels as per fabricator specifications to ensure adhesion. QUALITY ASSURANCE Fabricator: All Cast Stone & Tile, Inc. (786-229-8461), or approved equal. 1. Fabricator responsible for engineering pre-cast architectural paver units. B. Design Standards: PCI MNL 120. C. Quality-Control Standard: PCI MNL 117. D. All pre-cast related materials and workmanship shall meet APA (Architectural Precast Association) standards. E. Provide one mockup of typical pre-cast insert into integral colored concrete, for review of installation into concrete as detailed, for review of mortar setting bed / sealed joint. F. Retain and maintain mockups during construction in an undisturbed condition as a standard for judging the completed Work. 1. 3.03 A. 3.04 When directed, demolish and remove mockups from Project site. GUARANTY One year from date of substantial completion of project. MATERIALS A. Reinforcing: as per fabricator specifications. B. Anchoring Dowels: as per fabricator specifications. C.
