Mocha Moves, one of the hottest Hip-Hop Dance Groups here at MIT is collaborating with Collegiate Party Renaissance and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity to bring in the best dance groups from MIT, BU, Wellesley, and Northeastern to compete tonight for a $100 grand prize! We’re raising money for YouthAIDS! We’re raffling off Door Prizes! Introduce the MC-Faith Rogers! MC Introduction-(Faith) Let's explain how tonight is going to work. We've got 8 groups, each of them will do one performance. We've got a panel of distinguished judges that will decide which group is walking off with the top prize! Let's introduce our judging panel Shaundra Daily: Trained in jazz, hip hop, ballet, and acrobatics, Shani Daily has had the opportunity to perform for audiences for over 20 years. In undergrad, she cheered and performed for Seminole football and basketball games as a member of the Florida State Golden Girls and also spent 3 years as a member of Essence Dance Theatre in Tallahassee, FL. She has performed on ESPN, BET, at the Grand Ole Opry, for Professional football games, the Miss Alabama Pageant, and the 1996 Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics. Currently, as a busy graduate student and mother, she keeps her toe in the dance world by performing with MIT dance troupe. Melissa Blanco: Ricardo Foster: They'll be judging them based on their Appearance Entertainment quality (crowd reaction, connection with audience) Quality of routine (choreography, togetherness, execution of movement) Creativity Energy/Enthusiasm Overall Performance Ok, are you all ready for our first group? AIDS kills one child every minute. YouthAIDS, is an education and prevention program, which uses media and pop culture to help educate 600 million young people in 60 different countries. The money raised through YouthAIDS is used to increase HIV awareness and to assist children in HIV threatened countries. Their approach is to encourage healthy decision-making among youth, including the use of effective health products and services such as HIV counseling and testing. YouthAIDS ambassadors include Ashley Judd, Kat Deluna, and Ludacris, to name just a few! Thank you everyone for your help tonight in supporting this worthy cause!
