Ofori Sarkodie—Men’s Soccer Ofori Sarkodie is a four-year starter for the Hoosiers and earned Big Ten AllFreshman honors in 2006 and first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2007. As a defender he has been a part of 34 IU shutouts in his career and recorded his first goal in the Hoosiers' NCAA Tournament quarterfinal match against St. John's last season. Heading into 2009 he was selected a preseason second-team All-American by Soccer America. During the year Sarkodie started all six games and was named to the University of Akron All-Tournament team. In the classroom, Sarkodie is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2009. He was also named to the NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-North/Central region honorable mention team. He also recently won three awards recognizing his achievements overall while here at IU: The Big Ten Medal of Honor (awarded to one senior male and one senior female student-athlete for demonstrating proficiency in scholarship and athletics) The Big Ten Sportsmanship Award (awarded by the coaches to one student-athlete in each sport) The Hoosier Award (awarded by the Athletic Department to one studentathlete in each sport) Sarkodie is an exercise science major but has recently taken on a pre-med load with plans of attending medical school. He will graduate in December 2010.
