Press Release New Barum Winter Tire: The SnoVanis 2 for Vans Rolls onto the Market Hanover, October 2013. Barum traditionally manufactures winter tires that are highly cost-efficient and offer safe driving performance. With the new SnoVanis 2 for vans, the brand is continuing this tradition. This new winter tire offers not only low rolling resistance, which in turn lowers the thirst for fuel, but also firm grip on snow-covered and wet roads. The product range is ideal for small vans such as the Opel Combo as well as heavy-duty models such as the Sprinter range. Reduced rolling resistance lowers fuel consumption Lower rolling resistance lowers the thirst for fuel and reduces the impact on the environment. With 15% less rolling resistance than its predecessor model, the new SnoVanis 2 tire for vans will really help you save the pennies. This is thanks to the silica component in the rubber compound of the contact area, which reduces rolling resistance. As a result, end users and business owners can get their vehicles safely and cost-efficiently through the winter months. Safe driving performance on snowy and wet roads In the development of winter tires, a large number of sipes and block edges guarantees high grip on typically wintry roads. The new SnoVanis 2 achieves this thanks to a high density of cross sipes and its compact block tread in the 1 shoulder area. Compared with the predecessor model, braking distances on snow-covered as well as wet and dry roads are shortened by up to 3%. The high groove volume and snow pockets in the outer grooves are additional factors that help to improve grip on wintry roads. These grooves and pockets fill up with snow, which then meshes with the snow on the road for enhanced traction. To ensure a high level of safety on wet and dry roads too, the SnoVanis 2 features stable shoulder blocks and a compact block structure in the center of the tread. This gives the tire a high level of lateral stiffness and stability, which ensures precise handling on wet and dry asphalt. Barum is manufacturing the new winter tire for vans in 20 different dimensions for tires between 165/70 R 14 C and 235/65 R 16 C, and with load-bearing capacities of up to 1,150 kg.
