RNIB students take part in breaking World Record
As part of the National Tree Week, BBC has invited schools and colleges
to participate in a very challenging tree planting World Record which is,
“Most trees planted in a single hour.” 5th of December, Saturday between
11am and 12 noon, the RNIB Students joined in the attempt to plant
trees by hand and set a world record. Jonathan Hughes, Louise
Westwell, Fara Akhtar and Emily Halliwell together with Myla Kudyna
and Agnes Chan went ahead with the tree planting at the RNIB College
Garden. Todd Thompson was also there to support the team. It was a
very challenging day as it started with rain but then the weather improved
later in the day. It proved to be a very successful activity for the students
and for BBC to set a world record attempt.
We feel really proud for taking part in an event that is working towards a
good cause.

MY TRIP TO TSL HOLISTIC CENTRE AND BEAUTY SALON
AND WALK AROUND FAIR
By Jessica Allen
A few weeks ago on Saturday I went with Lynn to 75 Woodgate in town.
It was a rainy day. It was an open day so I wanted to go because I am
interested in crystals. When we arrived a lady called Helen asked if we
wanted a drink and offered us fairy cakes. I enjoyed my cake and it had
icing on. After this we looked around the shop on the ground floor. I went
to the crystals because I collect crystals and believe they all do different
things like healing. I chose a Tiger’s Eye, which is my birthstone and
helps with confidence. After this the lady took Lynn and I upstairs where
there were three treatment rooms. The first room we went into was used
for massages, facials and hot stone massages. I sat in a chair and the
lady gave me a sample. She put some cream on my hand and
massaged my hand with the warm stone. I enjoyed this. The lady told us
about other treatments that happen in that room like full body massages,
manicures and pedicures. Then we went into the other room where they
can also do massages. In the third room she told me that a man called
Dave does hypnosis for past life regression. I am not sure whether I
believe in past lives but I found this interesting and would like to have the
hypnosis one day. The lady told us about experiences people have had.
This hypnosis can help people to resolve issues. For example one of the
customers saw himself being burnt at the stake in a past life because his
cows and destroyed a village. In real life he was afraid of cows. I would
be nervous to try this treatment but would like to see what experience I
have. After this I went back downstairs and Lynn had a cup of tea. We
read a form about the treatments. We talked and then left. It was raining
and I walked through the fair on the way back. The fair as very crowded
and I could smell food. I didn’t go on anything. After this we went to
Varsity’s to have some food. Lynn had a fried egg and chips and I had
mushrooms with chips and a cup of tea. Lynn had coke. It was over £4
just for the chips and mushrooms and tea. After this we walked back to
Stan Bell.
