SUB TOTAL:
Deductions for a horse/foal based on the following:
PEDIGREE:
Straight: 30% off price
REGISTRATION: ANY
If your curly is registered with ABCR, ICHO or CSI, add $500
If your curly has unknown heritage, deduct $1,000
If registered with any other breed registry besides a CURLY registry, add $100 for each
GAIT:
Gaited riding curly that paces, hard trots. Uncomfortable to ride deduct $500
GELDED LATE
Subtract $300 if your curly was gelded late or has bred a mare in the past. This does affect a buyer’s willingness to
invest in such a horse.
MARES:
Fillies & Mare are not the main attraction like they used to be due to buyers wanting steady, family riding horses.
For this reason, deduct $200 if you are selling a mare or filly.
BREEDING or SHOW QUALITY:
If this animal has poor conformation, is not breeding quality, or show quality (physically) then subtract $200- $500.
HEALTH ISSUES:
Small concerns. ie. hernia, cloudy eye, etc. deduct amount that is suitable. $100-300.
For major health concerns that threaten the usefulness of the horse, deduct 50% of full calculated price.
AGE OF OLDER HORSE:
Subtract $200 from a horse that is over 16 years old.
Subtract $500 from a horse that is over 20 years old.
AGE AND LACK OF USE OF HORSE
Subtract $300 if a horse is older than 7 and has not been saddle trained.
Subtract $100 if horse was saddle trained as a young horse, but has not been ridden in years.
BEHAVIOR OR TRAINING ISSUES:
Due to behavioral issues or abuses from previous handler.
Deduct what is suitable.
:
URGENCY TO SELL:
Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation to move a horse quickly for various reasons. Deduct a reasonable
amount up to 25% off. Deducting more than this will not only make buyers suspicious but also harm the Curly
market, setting a precedent that is too low.
Other deductions not mentioned above:
