The final energy consumption in the transport sector by transport
mode expressed in tonnes of oil equivalent (toe).
The energy quantities used for international maritime and aviation
bunkers and pipeline transport are not included. The main fuel
types used are the oil products, electric power and small quantities
of gas and biological fuels.

One of the objectives of the new development strategy is
decoupling the economic growth from transport development with a
view to reducing the negative impact on the environment.
This indicator can be used to establish the related economic and
environmental policies in order to fulfill the concerned objective.
