THE STARS ARE OUT IN BRIGHTON
A glittering list of film, stage and screen stars that reads like a
page out of ‘Who’s Who’- the definitive directory of everyone
who’s anyone in Britain - has been announced in Theatre
Royal Brighton’s new spring season.
The highlights of the stellar cast list include SIR IAN McKELLEN and PATRICK
STEWART, both renowned separately for their film and TV work, and together in
the X-Men films; RICHARD E GRANT, the star of more than sixty films including
the cult classic Withnail and I; EDWARD FOX, best loved for TVs Edward and Mrs
Simpson; CLAIRE BLOOM, whose career spans more than fifty years ranging
from her definitive role as Ophelia for the RSC to Brideshead Revisited; TAMSIN
GREIG (appearing with the National Theatre), whose films include Shaun of the
Dead and Cuckoo but is best-known for her starring roles in Green Wing and Love
Soup and JOHN SAVIDENT, a highly regarded classical actor with the National
Theatre and loved by millions for his portrayal of Fred Elliot in TVs Coronation
Street.
With a magnificent range of top class drama, musicals and comedies in this new
Spring season – some prior to London or directly from London’s West End – every
show is guaranteed to be a hot ticket this Spring. So early booking is advised for
access to the best seats, with general sale opening on Monday 17 November. If
you want to book before this date, ask the Box Office for details of the Friends
membership Scheme which also offers special discounts on some shows as well as

Theatre Royal Brighton Productions and First Family Entertainment present the
spectacular family musical THE WIZARD OF OZ a brand new production with a
cast full cast of top-class West End performers and all the songs from the MGM
film.

Direct from Hollywood, TOTALLY LOOPED is Mock The Week meets YouTube, a
hilarious all-improvised show in which top comics dub new dialogue to old movie
clips. Starring Phil Jupitus, Marcus Brigstocke and Joe Liss (Curb Your
Enthusiasm).

Following last year’s highly acclaimed performances The Russian State Ballet of
Siberia returns with their magnificent fully staged production of SWAN LAKE.

One of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time starring Clare
Buckfield, Alex Ferns and foul-mouthed, R&B singing carnivore plant ‘Audrey

Sun 22 February 3pm: BEYOND THE VOID
Simon Yates, one of most successful mountaineers of all time immortalised in
the film, Touching The Void gives an entertaining and inspiring lecture providing
real insight into the mountain environment and the extreme mental and physical
challenge of climbing.

A new play by Yasmina Reza, GOD OF CARNAGE played to packed houses at the
Gielgud Theatre in 2008 and proved one of the most successful plays in the
history of West End theatre. It now comes to Theatre Royal Brighton with a firstrate cast including Richard E Grant, Lia Williams and Paul Ritter.

Beckett’s famous play and the theatrical event of the year starring Ian McKellen
and Patrick Stewart.
Tue 31 March – Sat 4 April: GETHSEMANE
The National Theatre returns to Brighton with a new play by David Hare starring
Olivier Award-winner Tamsin Greig.
Tue 7 – Sat 11 April: HMS PINAFORE

A musical delight starring John Savident, this sea-faring smash-hit show
