CAREER SUMMARY

I am a driven and ambitious individual with extensive site work and project management experience on both contaminated land and geotechnical engineering contracts, specialising in contaminated land consultancy in more recent years. Now with over eight years’ experience in contaminated land consultancy with both a contractor and an engineering consultancy my technical reporting is well developed and I have also had significant exposure and experience on large-scale geotechnical projects.

Following 18 months with a geo-environmental contractor in Berkshire, I joined a small engineering consultancy in Somerset in 2007 gaining valuable experience across a diverse range of projects; joining WSP Group, Land Restoration and Ground Engineering team in Bristol in late

2013 integrated quickly to become a key member of the team.

My career highlights to date include leading two phased site investigations for a proposed new reservoir in Cheddar, Somerset for Bristol Water plc, with a total project value of £350k+. A detailed desk study assessment and ‘red’ site working for a new industrial development in Swinton,

Greater Manchester with historical acids and metals contamination; and leading detailed multiple phase site investigations, Human Health Quantitative Risk Assessments (HHQRA) and Remedial

Strategy on former industrial land to be redeveloped with 100+ residential units in Wiltshire.

WORK EXPERIENCE

2013- Senior Geoenvironmental Consultant, WSP Group, Bristol

Key Responsibilities: My primary duties are to provide technical support on geo-environmental contracts. I am heavily involved with Phase I assessments, advising on environmental and development constraints, procuring and managing Phase II ground investigations and leading technical reporting. Selected project experience to date includes:

Site supervision and management for a Proposed New Road Bypass across agricultural land in Lyminster, Sussex.

Preliminary Risk Assessment and Desk Study to support the commercial acquisition of a retail premises in Toulouse, France.

2013 Environmental Associate, Integrale Limited, Somerset

Key Responsibilities: Continuing my career development with the same company, reporting to the

Technical Director, my role included leading the project and financial management of company geo-environmental contracts, quoting, designing and leading targeted site investigations and mentoring younger members of staff. My project experience and achievements in this role included:

Pre-Purchase Assessment and Contaminated Land Advice at a former Tannery in Somerset and historically fly-tipped land in Bristol.

Site-specific Contaminated Land Assessment for a backfilled outdoor Swimming Pool being returned to ornamental gardens in Newbury, Berkshire.

I also developed and implemented a new financial management spreadsheet which allowed a snapshot of profitability on individual projects at any particular stage.

CAREER HIGHLIGHT

August-Oct 2013: Clifton Industrial Estate, Swinton, Ainscough Group . Project Value c. £15-20k

Detailed contaminated land assessment and regulatory liaison relating to historical acids and metals contamination, including design and implementation of appropriate site investigation working under

‘red’ site conditions for a proposed new industrial development.

2011- 2013 Senior Geologist, Integrale Limited, Somerset

Key Responsibilities: Provide technical support and project management on company geoenvironmental contracts, Phase I, II and III interpretative & factual reporting and specifications. I specialised in contaminated land projects, but was also heavily involved in company geotechnical projects, highlighting my flexibility between the two. My project experience in this role included:

Contaminated Land Desk Study and Preliminary Investigation at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol;

Ongoing Contaminated Land Advice and supervision of Remedial Works at an old garage in Letchworth, Hertfordshire and a former industrial site in Calne, Wiltshire.

Human Health Quantitative Risk Assessment on a former council highways depot & former industrial units to be redeveloped as a residential estate;

Geo-environmental and Pre-Purchase Assessments on former farms, derelict and operational factories, petrol filling stations and industrial land.

CAREER HIGHLIGHT

Summer 2011 & Autumn/Winter 2012: Cheddar Reservoir No. 2, Cheddar Somerset, Bristol Water plc . Project Value c. £350k.

Leadership and management of two phased site investigations for siting of proposed new reservoir.

Key responsibilities included site management of Health and Safety practices and procedures in role as principal contractor under CDM Regulations, regular landowner and stakeholder liaison to secure access and maintain the public face of Bristol Water plc during all operations. Day-to-day site management, resourcing and programming as well as senior responsibility for junior staff for soil and rock logging, permeability testing, monitoring and technical reporting.

2007-2011 Environmental Geologist, Integrale Limited, Somerset

Key Responsibilities: Technical support, site supervision and interpretative & factual reporting including desk studies on industrial units, farms, petrol filling stations and former landfills; supervising site investigations, assessments, and validation works for underground fuel tank removal, hydrocarbon leaks and historical metals contamination.

2005 - 2007 Geo-Environmental Engineer, Costain Geotechnical Services, Maidenhead

Key Responsibilities: Management and supervision of water monitoring and sampling programme; procurement, management and delivery of contamination testing and advising site staff of geoenvironmental responsibilities and working practice. My project experience in this role included:

Tunnel Improvement and large contracts as part of Severn Trent Water Limited and 4Delivery

Limited frameworks.

Management of environmentally sensitive dust monitoring contracts, using both static Frisbee gauges and hand held dust monitors.
