Ensinar.NET: Statistics Analysis tools for Learning Management System
The world of Learning Management System (LMS) suffers a scarcity from
products integrated with modules of analysis and calculation of data. A system
that could assist the teaching of research methods, that besides assisting in the
content management, to also provide a simple and easy way to deal with
statistical calculations in databases, would take care of the necessity of users of
diverse areas that possessed discipline of research methods with analysis
necessity statistics of data.
The analysis statistics of the data, although to be considered essential in works of
college research, it is not of easy agreement of the students of not specific areas
of accurate science. The integration of a LMS with a module of analysis
statistical of the data could serve in such a way as a powerful tool of education of
research techniques, as also on-line could be used as a tool for analysis of form
data.
Implementation Plan
The objective of the Ensinar.NET project is to construct a LMS, with the main
tools of management of pedagogical content, integrating to a tool capable to
generate diverse calculations of tests and statistical data in storable databases in
the system.
Had the great familiarity of the users with programs of family MS Office, the use
of the technology of Office Web Components (OWC) for exhibition and interaction
of the data with the user will be easy acceptance for any student or professor of
any area, therefore it would provide a friendly interface e (common) to the users.
Besides of this, OWC tools possess an interface of functions that would facilitate
to the implementation of importation functions and exportation of data.
The Ensinar.NET will possess tools of synchronous and asynchronous
communication for actual, half-actual and long-distance education. Such tools
will go to facilitate the communication (between professor and pupil and pupils
between itself) in the education of the pedagogical content aiming at to improve
the quality of education.
The tools that the EnsinarNet will provide are:
 Evaluations and Exercises - tasks will be created to be delivered for the
students in the determined stated periods. The activities will be mounted by
the teacher with objective and subjective questions, and comment and
judged after student’s answers;
 Announcements - space for creation of messages to the students given by
teacher;
 Documents - a directory will have where archives of diverse types can be
accumulated to be showed by the teacher to his students, also having the




possibility of digital signature of the archives, thus providing a bigger
security of information;
Lessons - planning of a lesson pass-the-I pass, structuralized with
presentation of texts, content, links, exercises, spread sheets of calculation,
tools of analysis of data multimedia;
Calendar - tool for the professor set appointments tasks, presentations,
lessons, delivery of exercises or any another (extracurricular) activity;
Groups - possibility of formation of teams to be responsible for the delivery
of works and accomplishment of activities;
Forum and Message System - tools of communication of the system, where
meetings, quarrels, joint explanations or any another activity of
communication could be made.
Beyond the usual tools of a LMS also a statistical tool of analysis of data with the
following characteristics will be presented:
 Possibility to load databases in diverse formats;
 Possibility of exportation of the database in some formats;
 Calculation of Tests of numerical or categorical Hypotheses with one or
more changeable;
 Calculation of data of descriptive statistics of parts of the database;
 Calculation of Correlations between one or two variables;
 Construction of Graphs of Regression and Histograms;
 Calculation of probabilities;
 Extraction of random samples of the database.
The users of the Ensinar.NET will go to possess following the profiles:
 Student - user with access to the content generated for the professor, and
access the school registration in diverse you discipline of the (valuable)
courses;
 Teacher - user responsible to manage the pedagogical content of the
education program;
 Coordinator - user administrator of a specific course, with the power to
manage the school registrations in disciplines and courses and manage
permissions of students and teachers;
 Administrator - user capable to place coordinators and to construct the
physical structure of the institution (departments, centers).
