Ask the chn to discuss and decide on type of writing (F/NF). Ask “as a report what should we be looking for? (headings, diagrams etc). 3. Have a quick discussion about the 2 types of writing. 4. Share read the report to establish general understanding. 5. read the literal questions explaining that these sort of questions you will find directly in the text – not like the handbag task 6. Ask the children to ask each other a literal question and listen to the answers. Use the children’s examples to show that their answer has been turned into a statement, which they need to do when answering reading tasks. IRT: work on answering the questions. IRT – Work through comprehension tasks using statements rather than answers. Re-Watch you tube on class blog regarding simlies to support learning TCH Share re-read and look for examples of simlies and alliteration to support writing and then look at question 7 as a group. Tuesday IRT: Children to re-read story and then work on reading tasks. Using Spell city play a game with weeks’ spelling words or class word/spelling focus 1.Work on completing questions using statements rather than answers and then the photocopied senses chart. Wednesday TCH: re-read text and then work through some of the questions as a group. Share the 2 photocopied tasks. IRT: work on the tasks. Listen to Recording on Vocaroo following text. IRT: 1. Complete a handwriting card or Typing task from reading journal. 2. spelling activity. TCH: Go through questions and answers as a group and discuss the imagery created through “a thousand storms”, where the windows had once been and mouth full of dust and smoke. Complete work for the week.
