DNA not only is for parent verification and performance tracking, but will also help prove ownership and above all the identity of the horse. We get calls continuously trying to identify horses that are abandoned and/or owners have never transferred them for years and/or over several ownerships. In 2015, the AWS is issuing (Free) micro-chip kits with all horse registrations to help in this crisis also! :-) You may pay for a MicroChip kit as well to protect your horse and ownership! *AWS Current membership is required for all services.*The DNA testing uses mane/tail hairs with roots from your horse to look for genetic markers. *The DNA Instructional email will be sent with details and invoice. *If your horse has been DNA tested previously and can provide the DNA case number you will not need to pay for another test! *DNA testing is available now without registering your horse! Just pay for an AWS membership and DNA test fee. Thank you for becoming a part of the solution! Please legibly complete all the information: Horse’s Name________________________________Foal date___________Color ____________ Sire ________________Breed ______________ Dam_________________Breed_______________ Owners name____________________________________________________ Address_________________________________________________________ City____________________State ___________Zip________________ Phone:________________________Email:____________________________________________ The DNA Test Results are kept on file at UC Davis and at the AWS National Office for your reference. You may submit one of these scoresheets/show record (see below) or submit a video inspection, or sign up on-site inspection in your area (inspection entry form). Common Questions asked; May I register my young horse/mature horse if they have not competed or attended an inspection? You may register your horse now and receive a “Pending” certificate and later upgrade to the “Official” certificate. You have your horse’s lifetime to upgrade it’s status. What if my horse is still “Pending” and I have completed the performance requirements to achieve an official Registration? You may fill out a change form to upgrade your certificate from “Pending” to receive an “Official” Certificate of Registration.
