Build your own horse Based on what you are learning in this unit, you are going to build your own horse based on genetics. Using the horse you choose out of the book, you will find 3 viable mates that will give you a good chance for desired traits. You must include the following criteria: 1. Color / markings – gene combinations as well (what possibilities could they be). a. Also include a punnett square to show offspring 2. Height / stature 3. Performance traits 4. Anything else you deem desirable You will find a dam and sire that will give you the best match for your desired traits. Make sure that you consider the following: Breed-registered or not Tested positive for homozygous Tested for negative defects Bring your match set with your written characteristics. You will write 1-2 paragraphs about each prospective mate defending your decision to breed. Paper must be at least 1 page in length, 12 pt. font, double spaced. Only use two lines to give your name and period and 1” margins. Please include the ad with a picture of each prospect, along a picture of the horse of your choice.
