Activités axées sur le thème de Noël pour la salle de classe primaire ! The idea is to invite all participants to a “Fête” with activities based loosely on a party game theme. The purpose was to stimulate some thought / ideas / discussion on adapting the ideas for different age groups / levels of experience with French and to suggest additional / alternative activities. Activité 1. The party invitation 2. Dress father Xmas “race” 3. On va à la fête c’est chouette chouette chouette, on va à la fête c’est chouette. Mais qu’est-ce que je vais mettre ? 4. La lettre au Père Noël de Purpose of activity A simple invitation card made using word and accessing images from www.google.fr – the idea was for teachers to use it and the process as a means for pupils to make their own cards using the model as a stimulus / scaffold and searching themselves for images from clip art and / or internet Cardboard cut outs (x 2) of naked (!) Pêre Noël plus – items of dress and accessories (bonnet / barbe / lunettes / pantalon / bottes / gants / veste / sac – words against the items fixed on whiteboard with blue tack for support. Teacher / pupil in role of PN (wears a santa hat!) says eg. “Mets mon / ma / mes “ or any appropriate “cue” and 2 pupils race to dress their PN A bundle of clothes (bonnet / veste etc as per dress PN game plus other items like écharpe / cravate etc) placed on floor / table. 4 pupils volunteer to dress for the “bal travesti” – All the pupils chant the chant (see column 1) and after the last question the teacher (or a pupil) says…Mmmm je vais mettre un bonnet / chapeau and they grab the item and put it on.When complete the class offer comments (where appropriate): J’aime / j’adore / je préfère le / la / les de + pupil or teacher prompts range of positive responses : Fantastique / magnifique / comique / sensationnel / formidable / bizarre / fabuleux…. Set of visiual cards with key items of vocabulary (words cf phrases e.g. dinde / cadeau / ange / sapin de Noël etc) linked to theme of Noël. Used in a traditional way as set of key images to input / practise vocab but also in pairs for a range of pairwork card activities e.g. pelmanism / “snap” and inviting them, to think of own games! Idea is for pupils to tick from own sheets what DTM actually has asked for (based on BRAINSTORM) Game based on the principle of pass the parcel. Pupils in circle pass round a santa sack as everybody sings “Vive le vent!”. When the chorus stope the pupil with the sack chooses an envelope and guesses what the present is (it’s a picture of one of the presents DTM was considering). They guess what it might be…if they’re right the individual pupil gets a reward (bon bon) but that team gets a point. Idea is to see which pass the parcel group gets the most points! The resource is an A3 sheet copied from the Usborne book of Xmas ART ideas. The sample is a Xmas tree decoration. The activity proposed was a jig saw one whereby groups of pupils used the adapted instructions each with a different “product” to make a xmas card / xmas tree dec to identify key commands in French like “coupe / déchire / colle” to share collectively before using the instructions to produce their own versions of the product. PN is “débordé” so he decides to get together a team of his best “lutins” to help with the distribution of presents on 24th. The game is a test then toi see which team of lutins is the best in terms of delivcering the right present to the right child in the right town in the fastes time . Activity based on the party game “Stations” A really simple template for pupils to list their own requests using the vocab from Dennis’s powerpoint or by searching websites for “idées de cadeaux” A powerpoint giving basic information on Xmas in France for teachers to use as the basis for a “quiz” Two powerpoints one to input info. on Xmas in Spain and one to “test” / quiz the pupils in the context of who wants to be a millionaire.
