Purpose of activity
A simple invitation card made using word and accessing
images from www.google.fr – the idea was for teachers to
use it and the process as a means for pupils to make their
own cards using the model as a stimulus / scaffold and
searching themselves for images from clip art and / or
internet
Cardboard cut outs (x 2) of naked (!) Pêre Noël plus –
items of dress and accessories (bonnet / barbe / lunettes /
pantalon / bottes / gants / veste / sac – words against the
items fixed on whiteboard with blue tack for support.

“Mets mon / ma / mes “ or any appropriate “cue” and 2
pupils race to dress their PN
A bundle of clothes (bonnet / veste etc as per dress PN
game plus other items like écharpe / cravate etc) placed
on floor / table. 4 pupils volunteer to dress for the “bal
travesti” – All the pupils chant the chant (see column 1)
and after the last question the teacher (or a pupil)
says…Mmmm je vais mettre un bonnet / chapeau and
they grab the item and put it on.When complete the class
offer comments (where appropriate):
J’aime / j’adore / je préfère le / la / les de + pupil or

formidable / bizarre / fabuleux….

dreaming about what he might ask the PN for to input
more modern vocabulary. Idea is for pupils to tick from
own sheets what DTM actually has asked for (based on
BRAINSTORM)
Game based on the principle of pass the parcel. Pupils in
circle pass round a santa sack as everybody sings “Vive
le vent!”. When the chorus stope the pupil with the sack
chooses an envelope and guesses what the present is
(it’s a picture of one of the presents DTM was
considering). They guess what it might be…if they’re right
the individual pupil gets a reward (bon bon) but that team
gets a point. Idea is to see which pass the parcel group
gets the most points!
The resource is an A3 sheet copied from the Usborne
book of Xmas ART ideas. The sample is a Xmas tree
decoration. The activity proposed was a jig saw one
whereby groups of pupils used the adapted instructions
each with a different “product” to make a xmas card /
xmas tree dec to identify key commands in French like
“coupe / déchire / colle” to share collectively before using
the instructions to produce their own versions of the
product.
PN is “débordé” so he decides to get together a team of
his best “lutins” to help with the distribution of presents on
24th. The game is a test then toi see which team of lutins
is the best in terms of delivcering the right present to the
right child in the right town in the fastes time . Activity
based on the party game “Stations”
A really simple template for pupils to list their own
requests using the vocab from Dennis’s powerpoint or by
searching websites for “idées de cadeaux”
A powerpoint giving basic information on Xmas in France
for teachers to use as the basis for a “quiz”
Two powerpoints one to input info. on Xmas in Spain and
one to “test” / quiz the pupils in the context of who wants
to be a millionaire.
