Application Guidelines for the Partnership for Teacher Excellence Program Texas State University Cohort 9 Summer 2015 – Spring 2017 Texas State University Requirements Submit To Deadline Apply to Texas State University Applicants who qualify for the EEF scholarship will get together to apply online to Texas State University. Much information will need to be gathered for this application. To expedite the application process, we ask that you complete a paper copy of the Texas State application so that all information is readily accessible during your meeting. Most likely, your major will be Elementary Education or Secondary Education. If you have questions about your major or minor, you may discuss them with your graduate advisor, Dr. Marilyn Goodwin (mg21@txstate.edu) via email or when you get together to submit your application to Texas State University. EISD Human Resources with Application Materials Monday, December 1, 2014 The Graduate College at Texas State University Monday, December 1, 2014 Texas State University December 2015 Submit Official Transcripts to Texas State University Have copies of your college transcripts sent directly to the Graduate College at Texas State: The Graduate College Texas State University-San Marcos 601 University Drive San Marcos, TX 78666-4605 One official transcript from each senior level post secondary institution attended is required. These transcripts must be mailed directly from the university or college attended or submitted in a sealed university envelope with the university's registrar's signature on the back of the envelope. To qualify for admission, you must have a 2.75 GPA on the last 60 undergraduate semester hours of letter-grade work earned before receipt of your Bachelor's (plus any previously completed graduate or professional work). Although the district will complete an initial screening, official acceptance is contingent upon verification by Texas State University. Take the GRE and have your score reported to Texas State University. Elementary Education and Secondary Education majors do NOT need to take the GRE. All other majors must follow the departmental requirements. GRE Website: http://www.ets.org/gre Texas State University Requirements, continued Submit To Submission Window Secure Funding for Your Degree File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after January 1st as possible—keeping in mind the deadlines: The summer school deadline is March 1st, whereas The Fall/Spring deadline is April 1st You will have the opportunity to accept or decline such aid later in the spring. However, financial aid money is dispersed in the order that applications are received. Therefore, the earlier you apply, the earlier you will receive your money. Be sure to highlight evidence of your success in teaching and participation in leadership roles. EISD Human Resources with Application Materials Monday, December 1, 2014 Write a Statement of Purpose This statement must describe how your professional goal to be a master teacher leader will be met through the completion of a Master’s degree through PTEP. Include specific examples from past work that will convince the application review committee of your potential to grow professionally and become a mentor, coach and teacher leader in your classroom, on your campus and in the school district. Compose your statement in approximately two (2) pages, (double spaced). All candidates who are accepted into Cohort 9 should plan to attend a mandatory meeting that is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 16th from 4:00 – 5:30, Location TBD. The EEF Scholarship details will be explained and applications will be submitted online to Texas State University during this meeting. Dr. Goodwin will be present to answer questions about degree options.
