Woodhaven High School Graduation Participation Agreement
The final function students perform together is the Commencement ceremony. Graduation is a
program of dignity, and is a total school/community function.
Participation in Commencement exercises is voluntary. It is not a part of the requirement for
graduation. If, however, a student decides to participate, there are certain rules that must be
followed:
1. It is our hope that students have enough pride to feel good grooming is essential. Required Attire
for the Ceremony:
a.
b.
Males:
dress pants, dress shirt with collar
Females:
dress or skirt and blouse of reasonable length (gowns are white and sheer so
watch the prints); females are encouraged to wear or bring the shoes they will be wearing during
the ceremony to rehearsal to make sure they do not have any problems walking on the artificial turf
and walking up and down the stairs to the stage.
c. Both:
Dress shoes, no tennis shoes or flip flops. No sunglasses on when
crossing the stage or during pictures behind the stage.
2. Choosing to participate in Commencement means that any selfish behavior (in which attention is
drawn to oneself at the expense of others) will not be tolerated and may result in one’s removal
from the ceremony. Unacceptable behavior refers to, but is not limited to: shouting, throwing, or
kicking any objects, possession of noisemakers, water guns or any illegal or explosive material
which may endanger others.
3. If a student alters his/her graduation cap or gown in any way, he/she WILL NOT be allowed to
walk at graduation. That means no tape, paint, pens markers, etc. ANYWHERE!
