Kutzky Park Neighborhood Association October 10, 2006 Minutes The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Scott Hebbring Treasurer’s Report was given by Kellie Threinen. The amount held at this time is $1010.54. The increase is due to the fund raising efforts of the Neighborhood yard sales held in August. It was a great success. President’s report was given by Dave Edmonson. Dave noted that the Synogogue is planning to break ground in spring of 07 with the raising of the two properties north of the current facility. There was concern because the current buildings are now boarded. The building will take 12 – 13 months with the plan to move into the new space in spring of 08. Police officer was present for part of the meeting and a property at 857 W. Center has been visited several times and the landlord has been notified of the issues. Neighbors have also indicated some concern. There have been no muggings in the area since summer however residents are encouraged to be alert and not walk the streets alone. A lot of caution goes a long way. The Redevelopment Committee is looking at purchasing the house 123 9 Ave NW. They need $20,000 to rehab and are looking for $5000 vestments. The intention is to return the house from a duplex to a single family dwelling. Imagine Kutzky updates were given by Chirs Flood and Andy Masterpole. CDBG funds were granted to both KPHA and First Homes. Monies will be used to move and rehab the house on 6 Ave and Civic Center Drive to a lot around the corner on 4th St NW. It will then be rehabbed from a duplex to a single family dwelling and be part a First Homes project. The two way street conversion has been accomplished. There were several improvements in the process of learning from the 1 Street SW conversion and things seem to be going smoothly. We are indebted to the former traffic engineer who has been attentive to the issues of the neighborhood and look forward to working with the newly hired traffic Engineer. The request for variances for the replacement 4 plex at 815 1st SW will be taken before the Zoning Board in November. The plan for this years changes at United Way are being worked on. Playground equipment is in place and landscaping is all that remains. Other issues are minor. October 21 will be the “Neighborwoods” planting project for the city. Anyone interested should contact the city forester to volunteer. Old Business: KPNA park clean-up will be held on October 14, beginning at 9:00 at the shelter or ball field where bags and gloves will be available. Refreshments will be found at the shelter as will the dumpsters for your trash collected. Respectfully Submitted, Mary Eliot Crowley, OSF i
