Capstone Grant Application Instructions
For Fall/Spring 2015 -2016 Graduates
Description
The CSUMB Alumni Association Capstone Grant was created to financially assist the capstone projects of graduating
seniors. Capstone grants are made possible by generous donations from the CSU Monterey Bay Alumni and the
Alumni Association. Applicants must follow all the directions in order to be considered for a grant. Maximum
possible grant amount is $500.
Application Process
All documents must be completed and turned into the Alumni Relations Office by 12PM on Thursday, December 3, 2015 for Fall
awards or 12PM on Thursday, April 28th 2016 for Spring awards. Applications can be turned into the main desk of the Alumni
& Visitors Center or mailed to the Alumni Relations Office. Not all applicants will receive financial support. Applicants will be
notified by December 14th for Fall awards, and May 9th for Spring awards of their approval status. Approved funds will be
provided after the capstone class is completed and all requirements for approval have been fulfilled.
Application Requirements:
1. Alumni Association Capstone Grant Application Form
2. One to two page project summary and personal statement which addresses the following:
 Demonstrated financial need for your project
 Reasons for choosing your Capstone Project
 Goals and outcomes for your project
 How your project will benefit you in your professional goals after graduation
 Detail any exposure/marketing that the Alumni Association would receive (in the paper, presentation, etc) if you
were awarded a grant for your capstone project. (Exposure not required for grant approval.)
3. Itemized budget, using the Alumni Association Capstone Application Budget Spreadsheet.
(Receipts must be provided after project approval.)
Exclusions
Awarded funding cannot be used on electronic equipment, software, clothing, capital equipment (such as
computers, desks, etc.), food, illegal substances or alcohol. If you are uncertain about possible expenses, ask for
approval from Alumni Relations Staff.

Have someone DOUBLE check your application (check spelling, math, details, etc.)
If approved for Alumni Association Capstone Grant Funding:
Proof of your passing grade of a C or better must be submitted from your Capstone Advisor
All receipts (original or copy) for applicable expenses. (Reimbursements will not be given without a receipt.
Receipts must be organized and provided with a budget when submitted to staff.) Note: The Alumni
Association retains the right to deny reimbursement of any items after your grant has been approved.
