Investigators from other Schools to pre-discuss applications with the Office for Translational Research. • Principal Investigator: one application per CiC call and only one CiC award to be held at any one time. • Collaborative applications permitted where it is agreed in advance that Cambridge will be the consortium lead for future translational funding applications. • For industrial collaborations people exchange is permitted, where focused on the delivery of the project objectives. • If applicant retirement is expected, the proposal must state who will take over responsibility for the award at the point of the awardee’s retirement. • All responsibilities of Investigators, Collaborators and Heads of Department are as stated in MRC guidance to applicants for the Developmental Pathways Funding Scheme. Please leave sufficient time for the Head of Department and administrative authority to approve and sign the application. The completed and Department-signed application form and X5 should be returned by email to Victoria Smallbone at the Office for Translational research at translation@medschl.cam.ac.uk by Friday April 17th 2015. The direct costs may include: support for additional research, technical or other posts consumables equipment travel costs Awards will be made at 80% fEC – Departments will need to ensure that all direct costs are covered within the 80% fEC. Any shortfall will have to be provide by the Department Inflation Ineligible costs Equipment: Only items over £3000 are considered equipment. Normal 50% co-funding rule applies to purchasing of equipment. Zero inflation No provision for inflation will be made for large equipment costs. With the exception of circumstances outlined in the MRC Research Grant terms and conditions, there will be no increase to the value of an MRC award. CiC awards do not cover costs associated with funding of students.
