Press Release Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK Pharmacy Technicians of the Year Awards 2009 The Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK is pleased to announce the winners of the Pharmacy Technicians of the Year Awards 2009. These awards are sponsored by AAH Hospital Service. The Pharmacy Technician of the Year Primary Care Award for 2009 has been won by, Donna Bartlett, Development and Improvement Project Lead Technician, NHS Northwest Medicines Management Network, Preston, Lancashire for her submission “Delivering injectable training on swine flu vaccinations to non-registered staff.” The Pharmacy Technician of the Year Professional Award introduced last year to recognise a pharmacy technician who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession has been won by Karen Pawelcyzk, Senior Technician for Vaccine Supplies, Pharmacy Distribution Centre, Govan, Glasgow. The winners of the Primary Care Award will present her work at the APTUK national conference in June at Cranage Hall, Cheshire and both winners will be recognised at the conference dinner. APTUK’s President Sarah Wilcox said that “APTUK were again impressed by the high quality of entries for this award. We recognise the importance of promoting the role of the pharmacy technician and will continue to champion excellence by encouraging and rewarding forward thinking and innovation” The Awards were established in 1997 to promote the important role of the pharmacy technician in developing and improving pharmacy services and to encourage forward thinking and innovation.
