SENIOR RUGBY LEAGUE PLAYERS CONTRACT

The parties agree:
1.
EMPLOYER / EMPLOYEE Relationship
The parties hereto acknowledge and agree that the relationship between them constituted or evidenced by this agreement is
one of employment with the club being the employer and the player the employee.
2.
TERM
This agreement will commence on the date of execution and shall terminate at the conclusion of the ……………… playing
season which is deemed to be four weeks after the grand final in the competition in which they have played is concluded.
3.
SERVICES
The player will:
3.1
whenever and wherever reasonably required, during the playing season(s) of the Country Rugby Football League of
NSW (“the league”), well and faithfully and to the best of his ability and skill play the game of Rugby League
Football for the club in such team, position and grade as the club shall from time to time specify;
3.2
report promptly for, and participate fully in, all pre-season and post-season games and all training sessions conducted
by, or participated in, by the club;
3.3
the player shall do everything necessary to get and keep himself in the best possible physical condition as to render
the most efficient service to the club and will carry out all training and other instructions of the club through its
responsibly appointed officials;
3.4
play the game in a sportsmanlike manner and in accordance with its rules;
3.5
undergo drug testing if and when required or requested by the club and or the Newcastle Rugby League;
3.6
agree to become a full member of the club and as such to be bound by and observe the provisions of the constitution
and by-laws of the club;
3.7
Act, dress and behave in public in a professional and responsible manner;
3.8
the player shall observe and be subject to the constitution, rules and by-laws of “the league” ie. the Newcastle Rugby
League, NSW Country Rugby League, and of the club, together with any amendments or additions there to which
may be from time to time during the currency of this agreement enacted or placed into effect. The player shall not be
restricted or debarred from training or playing with any Australian, Interstate, Combined Country, Division or other
representative team for which he may be selected;

not play in any Rugby League football match other than for the club or in a representative match other than that
sanctioned or approved by the League or the Australian Rugby League (except with the express prior written consent
of the club);
3.10
complete a Country Rugby League of NSW (“CRL”) player registration form in the form prescribed by the CRL in
each year of the contract for lodgement with and registration by the CRL. Such form shall be lodged with this
contract once fully executed with the Newcastle Rugby League and shall only become enforceable on such
lodgement;
3.11
this contract will be set aside if THE PLAYER secures a contract with a National Rugby League club. However, if
the Players Association with the National Rugby League club is terminated, the player will still be obliged to the

duration of the original contract period, whichever is the longer;
3.12
if at any time during the currency of this agreement, the player fails to discharge his obligations under this agreement
or shall be found guilty of disobedience or misconduct on the field of play or at training or shall be found guilty of
any misconduct or code of behaviour which in the opinion of the club committee, shall tarnish the club or the games
image or make him less able or fit to serve the club, then the club reserves the right to impose penalties on the player
or terminate his contract. Before any guilty decision is arrived at, the player must receive written notice of the
alleged offence and appear before the Club Board or a select committee of the club. At this meeting the player can
choose to have a support person in attendance;
3.13
apply to become and remain an ordinary member of the club and of the Newcastle Leagues Club;
3.14
the terms of this contract shall be for the full length of all preliminary competition rounds the club plays in the
Senior Newcastle District Rugby League competition as well as and including any semi finals, finals and grand
finals that the club may participate in, in any grade for that season;
3.15
the player is expressly forbidden from playing with any other club or association (eg. rugby union, soccer etc) during
the term of this agreement without the written consent of the club, this applies to competitions such as sevens etc;

3.16
the player shall provide the club with his tax file number within 14 days of signing his contract, otherwise forty eight
(48%) percent of his player payment will be automatically deducted for taxation purposes;
3.17
the club reserves the right, but is not limited to the recouping of any monies paid by the club on the players behalf
for such items as
club dress shirt / registration fees / club fees / insurance / playing socks and shorts / assorted strapping
Function ticket costs such as presentations, sponsors functions etc.
Payments made to third parties on behalf of the player at the players request eg. superannuation
Gym fees and other ancillary costs paid in relation to the players
Transfer fees or any other outstanding monies or fines that may be imposed from time to time by the League or
any other affiliated bodies. The club is entitled to deduct these costs (as agreed) from the players payments;
3.18
As part of the terms and conditions of being a contracted player, the player agrees to:
attend ‘after match’ functions held by the club or opposing clubs
attend fund raising activities where requested by the club
attend any functions such as sportsman’s dinners, formal balls, presentation nights, etc held by the Club or as
requested by the Newcastle Rugby League.
participate in any junior development programs conducted by the Club from time to time
be registered by the club secretary who will be responsible for registration of the player with the NSW Country
Rugby League;
3.19
Once the player has been registered by the Club with the NSW Country Rugby League, the player will be covered by
that bodies insurance. However, the player is responsible for his own additional medical insurance and ambulance cover. The
player is aware and acknowledges the fact that he should at his own expense, take out suitable Private Health Insurance and
Wages Insurance coverage so as to reduce or minimise any expense payable by the player as the result of an injury sustained
whilst under contract to the club, whether training travelling to or from a training session or game and or competing for the
club at any game fixture or otherwise;
3.20
The player acknowledges that the NSW Country Rugby League insurance cover does not take effect until the insurer
SLE waiting period (usually 28 days after the injury occurs) and that they will only pay a maximum reimbursement to the
player of $300.00 per week. The Club or the League will not be responsible for any additional costs incurred by the player
for any injuries sustained as a result of his undertaking or carrying out his duties for the club under this contract. The player
acknowledges the clubs recommendation to obtain private insurance cover.
In recognition of the above, the club agrees that it will pay the player:
