Tuxbury Farm Lesson Program Policies
Welcome to Tuxbury Farm Equestrian Center!
Our Fees are based on the following individual lesson rates:
Group lessons – up to 6 students (1 hr) $45
Semi-private lessons (2 students/30 min) $55
Private lessons (30 min) $65
Make ups – priced as noted above according to kind of lesson taken for
make-up
New Student Evaluation Lesson Fee - (30 – 45 min) $65
Payments for group lessons are expected monthly on your first lesson day of each
month. Your payment is based on your scheduled group lessons for that month. You
can find your total for the month posted in the Customer Balance Notebook at the
barn office. Additional lessons may be paid at time of lessons.
Credit Cards are not accepted for payment.
Lesson Release Forms are required for all riders before riding is permitted.
Attendance is expected at all scheduled lessons. “No shows” are subject to full
charge. Please plan to be at barn 15 minutes before lesson time in order to have
your horse properly tacked up before your lesson begins. Afterwards, your horse
should be cooled down, brushed, and returned to his pasture unless directed
otherwise. All tack should be returned to the office and any mess by rider or horse
should be cleaned up. This should take an additional 10 minutes. In other words, it
is best to plan on allowing 1 hour 30 minutes for each session. Beginners will have
assistance.
On occasion, your instructor may opt to call for an unmounted session to instruct in
tacking up, horse care and other areas of horsemanship. Unmounted sessions are
at a reduced rate of $35/session.
Cancellations are accepted for illness, religious reasons, family or school
obligations, and valid emergencies. Please call the barn phone at 884-7844 if you
should need to cancel. If Tuxbury should cancel due to instructor absence or
weather conditions, you will receive a call between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm that day
thru "Calling Post", an automated calling system. There may be a brief delay
between your "hello" and the start of the actual message. Please don’t hang up!
Note on your caller ID that it is a 405 area code.
Make-up Policy Cancelled lessons can be made up within 2 weeks of cancellation.
Contact Tash at 367-0312, vitkovic1@aol.com or 884-7844 regarding both
cancellations and make-up lessons.
Credit for approved cancellations will be noted at the first of the month in the
Customer Balance Notebook at the office. Credit will be applied when every effort
on both of our parts has been made to accommodate a make-up.
Billing/Payment Concerns can be addressed to Angela at 509-2606 or
w1river@yahoo.com.
Substitute Instructors Tuxbury instructors may periodically provide an approved
substitute instructor when our instructor is unable to teach.
Attire All students must have heeled shoes (paddock boots) and appropriate
riding pants. Shirts are to be form fitting. Your instructor will help you in defining
this. AHSA approved helmets are required by all riders. Although we do have
helmets available for your use, most students choose to purchase their own.
Tuxbury School Horses are provided to instruct in basic riding and jumping skills.
We limit any jumping of our school horses to 2 foot jumps.
School horses, when available, are available for lease for a show at $65 per day
beginning when the horse leaves the property and ending when the horse is
returned. This fee is per rider and is payable to Tuxbury Farm. Included are a
clean pony, clean tack, grooming supplies, feed, hay, any necessary medications,
buckets, fans, and any other supplies the horse might need. It will be your
responsibility to see that these items are returned to Tuxbury with the pony. Not
included in this fee are pre-show grooming specifics required by your instructor,
transportation to and from the show, or horse care and misc. fees while at the
show. Your instructor and the lesson program manager will help define these
additional fees for you and to whom checks are to be written. All transportation
must be approved. Our school horses may not be body clipped.
Visiting Horses and Riders for lessons need to provide proof of a current negative
