LABORATORY
1.
See handout for lab schedule
2.
Students may be dropped from the class when the number of absence (lecture and lab)
exceeds 8 hours.
3.
Pre-laboratory assignment will be collected at the beginning of the lab period and peergraded. Late pre-labs will not be accepted.
4.
Your data and calculation will be checked by the instructor during the lab period. The postlaboratory report requires you to draw conclusions and apply what you have learned from the
lab. You should try to answer these questions on your own but you may ask the instructor or
other students for help if needed. However, copying is definitely NOT ALLOWED.
5.
Post-Quiz will be given at the end of each lab. These quizzes will be on the lab calculation,
theory and techniques.
6.
Each lab will be grade on the following criteria
a. Pre-lab assignment
b. Data, observation, calculations
c. Precision and accuracy
d. Post-lab report sheet
e. 100 points total
7.
You may make up the lab prior to our meeting because the new experiment starts on Monday.
You must have my permission in order to visit other lab sections to make the experiment.
Failure to do so will result in a failing grade for the missing lab. The lowest lab score will be
dropped. However you should not miss more than 3 lab meetings or you will receive a failing
grade for the lab.
8.
Bonus points: 100 bonus points will be awarded at the end to the semester. Bonus points will
be award for arriving and leaving lab on time, cleaning up your bench and common areas,
performing experiment safely, checking out your locker and no broken glasswares. Points will
be deducted (for each single time) as followed
a.
b.

This laboratory schedule is tentative and may be altered during the semester.
Safety goggles should be brought to the 2nd lab meeting.
